I love the Norn’s cultural armor, but I’m not a fan of playing as one. So I was thinking what if I could make my Sylvari be accepted into the Norn’s culture?

Idea is to have a small personal quest line at lvl 80 (2-3 quests) where you can help another races hero (Logan, Rytlock, Eir). Do something such as join in the great hunt, accompany a charr warband into Ascalon, study at an Asuran college, stuff along those lines. I mean i just killed Zhaitan with them would be nice if they invited me to hang out

This could give our characters another layer of depth, another choice, another part of our legend! Of course each character would only be allowed to choose ONE other culture to learn about and become an “honorary member” of. Being given access to having a specialty built suit of the races cultural armor be made available for your character.

Just an idea, don’t know how other players would feel about something like this. I feel like it would give our characters a greater amount of personal story. I know it would be work creating both the quests and models for the other races. Just throwing the idea out here, maybe someone at Anet will see this and see it as a noteworthy idea! I’ve never liked the exclusivity of cultural armor. I understand the concept was that they are designed with only a single race in mind so they could fit it perfectly to that race and not have to worry about clipping on any other races. I just don’t care, I would like to see them expanded, mostly because I really like a lot of the norn gear better than what’s available other places, but I don’t like the norn themselves.

It’s more because the Sylvari armor is grown friom their bodies. While the other races are potentially exchangeable, I would bet that the Sylvari Armor is the reason for cultural being one race only. Even if certain asura npcs get to wear cultural armor of others

Don’t think sylvari armor grows from them (could be wrong) tier 3 might look like that.

Now just to wait and see if this idea gets popular

I was going to say “would never happen due to how badly the Charr armour would fit everyone” but then I thought how badly all the other armours fit Charrs so I say “let em have it”

Seeing as it blends into your base body color yeah its grown from you. The nightmare Armor is constructed to be clothesnot grown. Look closely you will see seems and edges of the constructiin vs the cultural that you can trace back to where it comes from

Honestly, I think just the option to play through another cultures quests in general would be great. Ill admit it, Im one of those terrible people that doesn’t want to play Charr or Asura because of how they look. Those are two story arcs I will NEVER know.

If I could play a Norn, Human or even Sylvari and be some stranger who has to help a culture…. Id be a happy little camper

Yes. However they make the choices of which branches to take.

M my suggestion is find someone that wants to see the race story part you plan to do. Ask your Guild you will probably find someone who has an adult that hadn’t done any sorry yet

Aye, just have to find someone willing to take you through the other races stories.

I was thinking more of just a small story where you can be come familiar with another race and learn. Scarlet story is some of the inspiration for this, since she was an apprentice of a Norn, and a student of the Asuran colleges.

Update: after some in game chatting, main complaint was it would take away one of the few things that make races unique. Was a good point, couldn’t come up with any argument.

I like the idea of helping the other races as lvl 80 personal story quest lines, and it would certainly also help explain why my Asura has a home instance in Hoelbrak, or why my Sylvari has a home instance in the Black Citadel, etc.

It is true, though, that the cultural armors are one of the few things that are unique to the races, especially since so many of the racial skills are lackluster. Not sure how ANet could compensate for opening it up to everyone.

Once again, to me its not even about the cultural armor. Just being able to do the quests.

Im a terrible person, I only like the Norn, Humans and Sylvari…. because I can kind of think “Hey, this is me”

So if I could make a human and level it though the sylvari quests (w/o a guild mate) that would be great fun

While i did think of this idea because i wanted Norn armor on my Sylvari, I kinda don’t care if that happens anymore! The idea in general sounds fun and something that could continue our personal story, and give us a small amount of new story content while we wait for bigger expansions.
