After Valve has announced Steam OS today I see quite a big trend moving towards gaming on Linux and thought it was the appropriate time to ask this question again.

I myself keep my Windows-installation for the sole purpose of playing Guild Wars 2, all of my other games I want to play are playable using Linux. I’m aware of previous statements denying a native client, but it doesn’t even have to be a native client. The current one is just not usable using Linux because of major framerate issues, even if you use quite powerful hardware. So if it could just be made a bit more Linux-friendly, I would be very thankful.

I play GW2 on Wine on Linux, works perfectly fine on my 64b Arch Linux.

The only glitch is that sometimes when Gw2.exe is updated, the transfer speed will drop to zero and the updater will fail with an error message. In that case, the workaround is to delete Gw2.exe, rename Gw2.tmp to Gw2.exe, and retry, then the update will work fine.
