I have to say that this is one area that I have seen an issue with on most mmo’s. New content is created or added and sometimes certain people do not know about it. This was the case in GW1 where sorrows furnace was added, but because I did not start playing the game until 8 m onths after its release I did not know about it for a long time. In GW2 I just saw a mystic chest ending today. I didnt even know about this until I happened to come across it online, and now its too late for me to even take part in it.

There has to be some way to explain certain in game changes or add-ons that some people have no knowledge of. Personally I dont play GW every single day and if something is added I dont know about it. One quick example of this is last night I was looking for ascolonian catacombs. I am a lvl 40 ele, and I was walking all over trying to get to the dungeon. I did not know you could access the charr area through Lions arch. There is a lot of in-game content that I still dont know, and the mystic chest really bothered me because I had not herd one thing about it. The forums are good but you have to post questions look for answeres, it is a hassel, there should be an easier way to know exactly what is going on in the world we play in.

You mean like game updates on a forum…. if only there were a place. Hmmmm…..

As for the rest it’s just exploration. Oh look a purple asura gate, lets go in!

RIP in peace Robert

Like I said I dont play everyday, and checking updates on the forum is good if you check al the time, It would be nice if there was a simpler way to know of in-game content. If I go away for 2 weeks and come back, I have to search for all updates for 2 weeks, and i have never seen anything about mystic chests?

How do you suggest the information is conveyed if you do not like the current set up?

This is a good question. If someone does not play all the time they would miss a lot of new content and not know about it. One way could be a e-mail to all active accounts with links to the appropriate place where the new content is discussed in detail. I took a look around and still have not come across the article on the mystic chest. there is a description on guild wars 2 wiki, but i did not find anything that states when it started. If there was an e-mail sent out saying new content with links, detailing the new content, I would have definitly known about the mystic chest. I dont see this being a huge issue, but at the same time maybe I am just not looking in the right places, so if anyone can point me in those places please do, as I have always had these types of issues. I feel like I have to search through tons of useless articles to find the answeres to questions that should be readily avalible.

im not really seeing the argument here…

1. local events pop up on your map.
2. you get emails indicating locations of dungeons once you unlock them.

but i’m sorry, you are not entitled to a tell all list/map of EVERYTHING in the game. Just as someone indicated, its about exploration.

You didn’t know you could access the Charr main city from Lion’s Arch and somehow this is information that should have readily been delivered to you? That’s a pretty lazy complaint on your behalf. I’m sure there are plenty of NPCs scattered throughout the world that hint to these things, just because you don’t want to stop and talk to these individuals, doesn’t mean they arent there for you to find.

I’d much rather stumble upon a treasure chest, or be walking along just to have a dragon jump out and a big fight ensue, as opposed to having a list of events provided for me.

Hints are one thing, but it’s about exploration and about interacting with the world and the people within it. If you aren’t making that effort, its not ArenaNet’s responsibility to force that content upon you. The interent is full of secrets revealed if you really want to be that lazy.

Alviss.1256 obviously you are missing the point. Its not about the fact that I want to know all the spooilers in the game, in fact its the opposite I dont like spoilers. But when content is added to the game or, is already in the game but not explained well, it makes it hard to find out about how to do certain things.

This is what manuals are for. If someone wants to know how to do a certain in game special quest or dungeon ect. you can ask the map you are in, but the responses are very broad and most of the time leave you wondering what to do. Maybe the finding charr starting area wasnt a good point, because the gates are readily in game, but that does not negate my point. If it had been pointed out that Lions arch was the center hub to all the starting areas it would have been a lot easier.

I did not get any mail regarding this, and I read all my mail, and play the game at a good pace. I dont try to rush through it. But when some new content comes out it would be nice to know about it when it comes out and not a day after it is over.

You want to know what changes have been made to the game.

There is a concise list of all changes made to the game in the announcements forum.

None of the information in the announcements is anything but announcements.

Ergo, you have to read them if you want to know about them.

I don’t see the problem?

ok show me where there is a detailing of the mystic chest. Maybe it is me but I have not seen anything in the game announcements about the mystic chest add-in. This is the type of content I am talking about, and its not me because no one I spoke to in my guild knew about the mystic chest either…

I entirely forgot about this, but it may well be possible that you can find what you need in the player-manual that passed by in the ‘news-section’ not to long ago. From what i understand its an online manual that gives information about how to play. Now clue what kind of information is in there, but it might be worth to just check it out

obviously the wiki is also a good source for info, but you sort of already need to know the topic on which you want to enlighten yourself more. So combining it with the manual might give you even more info. And both can be done at any moment in time, on a smartphone or tablet aswell…
