Black Lion Keys and Chests need to be buffed.
Totally agreed. I can’t stand all these black lion chests I find. I find probably abotu 5 a day at least, and keys drop horribly rarely for me.
The keys in the store cost an obscene amount for what the chests drop, too. The chests rarely contain anything useful, I’ve found. I don’t like the tonics, mostly because they take up so much bank space. If they had their own collectable storage I wouldn’t mind so much, because I like to hang onto things like that (bit of a hoarder), or if they could be sold that’d be okay. Maybe even if they were everlasting, or if when you transformed you could get the skills of your new form. But as is, it’s just awful to have so much junk piling out of these things for their prices.
Didn’t the chest in the Beta give dyes, too?
Also, LOL @ them being 9 copper each on TP. It’s obvious everybody hates them.
As long as the chests remain cosmetic I wouldn’t have an issue with buffing them. Mini-pets, dyes, etc.
smack..Wut?…smack…smack…
Perhaps make the keys drop more often, maybe around they same rate as dyes.
Those tonic could improve running speed, you get 3 per chest and you cant use them in combat. That way they ight become more interesting to all those wining for a mount win-win!
I find the chests to be useless.
They never contain anything I would actually want to use. The tonics suck and the rest is just junk.
I delete tonics as soon as I get them. If they allowed you to be in the tonic skin and use your skills then I can see tonics becoming popular.
If you guys at Anet want to sell more keys then the loot table for chests needs to be changed to something more exiting and fun.
The last few boxes I have opened lately have contained a “Mystery Tonic” instead of a tonic for a specific species. I suppose that’s a step in the right direction as far as inventory management goes.
But I do agree that drop rate for keys could be upped a little bit, or even improved with the use of Magic Find gear. Out of the 150+ chests I have in my bank, I think I have only found one key as a monster drop. All other keys were obtained from Story Mode quests.

I have NEVER found a key, I have only gotten them for completing exploration achievements. I have 25 chests sitting in my inventory.
Yeah, no. I still spend real world money on keys to open chests as is.
And if upping the drop rate and cutting in to potential micro-transaction income sounds like good business, why doesn’t A-net just make *everything* in the gem store drop, and charge us a monthly fee?
So shines a good deed in a naughty world.

On my server the chests on the market place go for less than 3 copper. I have sold all the chests I have gotten. The few times I have gotten a key, I bought one of the dirt-cheap chests from the marketplace and been utterly disappointed by the contents.
People are actually buying keys for these chests? Why?
Just an FYI there Hobgoblyn, the marketplace is accross all servers, not one for each server, that means when you looked at it the price was 3c for everyone.
Nels, why do you even bother posting in the suggestions forum? I never see any post by you that isn’t shooting down some one elses suggestion. I think I need a Block button for the forums.
I think I have 55 chests and 9 keys in the bank.
I would agree with others that the stuff that drops from the chests is largely underwhelming, and would just take up more bank space if I were to actually open more than the handful I have.
Love the game on the whole, but having opened a few, not excited about the chests.
I don’t open chests any more. I already have too many tonics taking up space in the ridiculously little bank storage we have. They are just not worth it.
