Blocking the block list
IMO people you block should not be able to interact with you in anyway be it chat, parties and so forth. They should not be able to see where you are on the map either. Even if you login invisible they can see what map you are on if they have added you to their list and if you are moving from map to map they will know you are online. Blocking someone should make you invisible to them aside from them standing in front of you a seeing your character. In turn you should not be able to join parties with them or see anything they say in all chat channels.
To bad our opinions do not matter, now if only anet shared that opinion.
Their block system is severely lacking. You can block someone and if they friend you and then use game messages, they will be told specifically in chat when you log in and when you log out. They can use the friends list to see what map you are on even if you log in as ‘invisible’. From other threads, it’s my understanding it doesn’t block what they say if they are in the same guild as you. And as this thread says, it doesn’t stop them from partying up with you.
Someday someone is going to use this weak sauce system to stalk someone. For example, lets say someone is stalking you in real life. Perhaps an angry ex spouse who knows your character name. If they have the game, even if you have them blocked, they know when you are logged on and that means they know when you are at home and if you live alone, that you’re probably alone. It’s hard to believe that ANet isn’t aware of the potential problems with this.
