How about implementing a way for us to buy BoH with laurels or even use pristine fractal relics? 1 pristine for 10 or 20 BoH maybe?? It would free up Wvw space for people who actually want to be there and let pvers stay in pve.

Alternatively, letting us get BoH in PVE from random kills; or getting them in daily/monthly chests instead of the single transmutation stones would work.

No. That would defeat the whole point of 500 Badges of Honor required for the Gift of Mastery. You’re supposed to be a “master” of the game, why would there be an alternative to that?

Even if that is my only reason, it’s the best one to keep the system the way it is. PvE players can already get 10-20 BoH a day by doing the EB jumping puzzle alone. There’s more if you do each of the ones in the Borderlands as well.

Ahreed BoH are so easy to get now. On a good night I can drop 60 in an hour or 2, plus the other 18 from the JP.

Be careful what you wish for, Anet might just give it to you “HoT”

BoH is easy to get if you like running around in WvW or doing the JPs. I don’t… I am not the casual player who has 1 char and is working on getting their first map completion either…

I’m asking that through all the hard work that I put in as a player in pve that i can use the laurels that I earn, and if I choose, to buy BoH with them; at the very least. If BoH were put in random drops or chests instead of getting that 1 transmutation stone to add to the stacks that I don’t need, rather than transmutation crystals… that’s fine with me too.

[Please lets keep “the Badges are easy to get by farming jps” out of it. And if you next argument involves or can be injected into the threads where people get mad that pve people come to wvw just to get map completion/badges and take up space that hardcore wvw/pvp people can use…. go to those threads with it.] Have a nice day =D

Weapon & armor skins? Legendary? Because I want them to fill my bank along with dungeon tokens? Does it matter…

You assume a lot. Ask that question to those that farmed chests to obtain thousands of badges. Maybe they did it to get the legendary they dreamed of, or maybe to make legendaries to sell on the market so they could get money to buy all the mini pets they wanted or dyes even; or maybe just maybe even for the skins that you can get from wvw vendors… I dont care. Whomever they are and however they got them it doesnt have anything to do with you or me for that matter or why I want them. Have a good day. Don’t bother commenting any more.

This suggestion is a bit silly isn’kitten . If you want badges, you’ll earn them. They’ve been implemented for WvW players, with a jumping puzzle for the PVE’ers. It’s a way to show what you’ve played.
PVE only players have other rewards, dare I say MORE rewards than WvW players. There’s absolutely no reason nor right to complain about hte current implementation of BoH.

The Gift of Mastery is probably the one component for a legendary that I can agree with completely, requiring you to prove you have some degree of mastery over the game.

  • Bloodstone Shard: 200 skillpoints, proving your long term commitment
  • Gift of Battle: 500 Badges of Honour, proving you are no mere fodder on the battlefield
  • Gift of exploration: You’ve travelled the world
  • 250 Obi shards: Obtainable a variety of ways, but all require time, patience or skill, not gold

If only the other gifts were so meaningful (Gift of fortune: Requires lots and lots of gold, and a bit of luck, Gift of your weapon: Even more gold, and grinding the same dungeon ad nauseum. Precursor: Pure blind luck).

While I to an extent disagree with PvP being part of a PvE/PvP mixed reward, I find it hard to take a person seriously running about with a legendary weapon if they’re incapable of beating another thinking human being in a fight; being great at farming mobs doesn’t make you a great player, just one with a lot of spare time.

I’m in EU tier 8 and I get 100 badges in 2-3 hours when I actually grind (tank guardian with staff spamming 1 for a lot of tags). You’re likely to grind for your Legendary. What are 15h compared to the 300-400h you need to grind everything for your Legendary?

In higher tiers you can most certainly get 500 badges much more quickly.
