Bonuses for 50/50 HoM players
…Aren’t all the skins, achievement points, titles & other HoM achievements along with the title itself enough?
I say it’s fine where it is.
You already get stuff from HOM and now you get a nice size ach points.
Anything more is – what you said – punishing everyone/anyone else.
RIP City of Heroes
People are acting like they played Guild Wars 1 for the recognition and not because it was just a fun game.
You already got additional points(Anet went to far) and HoM(Deserved). Now you want more points and more free stuff?
Why does every thread you post(Ok, just the ones I have seen) have to say…basically…“I deserve more” “Or I deserve to be the only one with _”

Pretty much this. They have already rewarded GW1 players with plenty of items. We have so many unique skins, pets and neat stuff to play with that the addition of 500 AP is more than we could hope for. Now you want 500 more because… reasons?
I don’t see that happening lol
Man this thread with the other makes me laugh. Not a dig at any specific person but…
“We’d like to thank our Gw1 players, go make them a small token prize to mark them, but don’t do anything that big to create an advantage”
“Ok, so no gear or too many boosters or anything. Any in game items will feel like it’s biased. Let’s just give them a sticker shaped like a gold star”
“Hey, guys, for your work in Gw1, you get this gold star”
(Most sane people) “Yay!”
“Dude, that’s totally not fair, I want that gold star too”
“But you didn’t play Gw1”
“YEA BUT ITS NOT FAIR”
“It’s just a gold star”
“I DONT CARE I WANT IT”
“You do realize if this star didn’t exist, you’d never would have wanted it. This game has lasted almost a year without it. You only want it because you see other people with it. "
“You suck! I’m quitting!”
….
" Dude this star is lame, I did more! I want my star to be bigger"

I can understand and respect your opinions. But I did put in a lot of hours to score my 50/50. I did it with the expectation that we would get free stuff in GW2, which we did. And I had fun doing it. But I’m talking about a bonus for maxing it out. Why should we get a bonus? Getting all 50 points in HoM not only shows dedication to the game, but also the fact that we did purchase each and every expansion set. 50/50 shows mastery of the game, so perhaps our characters in GW2 should be placed on a higher tier.
As a loyal player who continues to support the game with constant Gem purchases, I can live with getting the nice 500 point gift Anet gave. But I’m speaking broadly for all us special snowflakes who poured their soul into GW1. I’m not begging for any extras. Just wanted to let the Devs know that we love this game, and a bonus on top of the bonus would be super sweet.
Note – some of you know me for standing up to players who feel entitled to free stuff. My critics may try to use that argument against this thread. But the key difference here is that 50/50 does deserve the 500 points. And any extra bonus wouldn’t diminish that glory one bit.

“Hey, guys, for your work in Gw1, you get this gold star”
I played GW1 because it was fun. I didn’t do any “work” in it, and especially not for GW2 rewards. I played GW1 for GW1. The fact that I get any shinies in GW2 because of it at all is magical to me- expecting more is downright ludicrous.
Give him 1 copper to kitten. Lol. I think they already got enough. They can’t complain for getting something for free for doing nothing(they did not play GW1 because of the rewards they played it cause they had fun playing it and later ArenaNet rewarded them as thanks – not as “payment” for playing that game).

Before I start, I have 30/50 HoM and have played GW1 since sometime in 2005. So I also helped ‘pave the way’, just did not dedicate my life to the game like the 50/50 takes.
With that out of the way, why in the world do you think ANet should care that much? You got rewarded—twice—and that is that. I mean I know GWAMM goes to people’s heads, but man this is a new level.
In short, no one cares if you stop playing tomorrow but YOU. Why? Because you have a lot invested in the game. I get the passion, but seriously do not expect the average joe to care about your thousands of hours in some game.
Though the ‘give us a free precursor’ has me thinking this is a troll thread.
To be fair, all the equipment skins, minis and such are not a reward for 50/50, they are a reward for 30/50. Overall the only reward for the remaining 20 points (which are of course by far more difficult to achieve than the first 30 points) are the titles.
That said, as I recall Anet did state earlier that this was intentional – that they didn’t want people to feel like they HAVE to get all the way to 50/50, and the titles were just a kind of a vanity reward for those who went the extra mile to get there.
I don’t really want achievement points in GW2 for something I did in GW1. I certainly don’t want precursors, or anything that gives any kind of gameplay advantage.
Any and all vanity rewards are welcome though, and in that sense I think everything up to 30 points was great. I like how those rewards give a kind of nostalgic connection to GW1, without affecting the actual gameplay of GW2. I also appriciate the reusable skin options, although honestly I’m not all that fond of the armor style of light and medium sets, and only use them on one character (charr thief) to help fix the otherwice ragtag look of mixed armor pieces. The heavy armor style I do like better.
I’m mostly fine the way things are – the only problem I have is that the 50 point title ‘Champion of Gods’ is only really applicable for humans, and I don’t play humans. For a charr for example that title would be a mortal insult. The asura believe in eternal alchemy, the norn to the spirits of nature, and even for the sylvari it’s not exactly relevant – their equivalent would be wyld hunt valiant.
So if anything, I’d ask for an additional 50 point title that’s more appropriate for ALL the races, not just the humans. Beyond that, a second armor skin set for points 31-50 would be great.

Yeah, 30/50 wasn’t that hard to get to. It was relatively easy. 50/50…not so much. What did you get for those other 20 insane points? 4 titles.
Was it worth it? At the time, Guild Wars 1 was my game of choice, but because they were coming out with Guild Wars 2, Guild Wars 1 was barely being upgraded and the content (when it did come) was less than stellar. (Winds of Change anyone).
What some people aren’t understanding is that in order to make this game they all but abandoned that game, and we waited for this game for years.
This isn’t just about whether Guild Wars 1 was fun or not. It was about whether Guild Wars 1 had anything new to do, and how much time you spent grinding out some insane titles at the end to get that 50/50 that were distinctively not fun. Yes, most people did those titles specifically for reward in Guild Wars 1, not because they’re fun.
There’s nothing fun about most of them. They were just grind. But there was reward associated so most people did them.
In the end, though, it is a different game, and I don’t think we need to be rewarded for having played it, since I got five good years of play out of it.
But make no mistakes…the work to get to 50/50 (instead of 30/50 when you ceased getting items), was huge. It’s why most people didn’t do it.
i hope 50/50 HoM guys (I’m 41/50) get an exclusive emote that briefly summons the Ghostly Hero akin to a /rank, say “/gw1”

Which is why you have GWAMM title. What is funny though is having that title most likely prevents from using any other title, making achievement titles in GW2 worthless for you unless you want to lose the most important ‘flaunting’ point of GW1 slavery.
That is, sometimes having a reward prevents from further enjoyment. I feel this way with my Black Widow spider, I feel compelled to use it most of the time simply knowing of the time commitment I put in to getting it, and being far past the ‘point of enjoyment’ with GW1 at that time.
Wow, turns out you can’t link to the HoM calculator directly anymore.

Compared to 50/50, GWAMM was complitely trivial to achieve though (basically GWAMM was just tip of the iceberg of just one of the 50/50 requriements). I still use GWAMM title on every GW2 character though except the human guardian that uses the 50/50 title – because that human guardian is the only character I have to which the 50/50 title (Champion Of The Gods) makes any kind of sense.
i also have some hom achievement points and free stuff and i’m good with it, i don’t know if asking for more though is fair or necessary

hmmm. no to free legendary precursor.
i dun mind other freebies though.
An alternative to this would be, dare I say it, a free Precursor for all whom made 50/50? I did mention that our feats are legendary. So why not a gift to showcase this legendary status?
Personally I find this to be quite greedy.
Greedy or not, 50/50 is an achievement that was very hard to get. Precursors are very hard to get. It would make sense if Anet were to magically mail a random Precursor to everyone with 50/50. An extra 500 bonus (1,000 points total) for completed HoM achievement works well too.
alcopaul did come out with a nice suggestion. 50/50 players could get some bonus emote that’s exclusive to them. Maybe something like /gw1, and a giant snowflake drops down with a sign that says “Just too good”. That would be the ultimate vanity bonus.
Until you’ve tried to obtain the 50/50 HoM achievement, you have no idea how hard it is. And once you realize how hard, and how many years it takes to get, you can’t argue against any extra bonus. Again, I’m not begging for anything extra. If Anet agrees and gives us something, great! If not, that’s ok too. It would be nice to get another bonus, and well deserved in my opinion. Kinda like when you got that Pact weapon for beating the Dragon. We didn’t need it, but it was a nice extra shiny.

Getting 50/50 in GW1 is NOT DIFFICULT. It is just time consuming.

I would first like to thank Anet for providing us GW1 players with the nice bonus to our HoM achievements. It was stated by Anet that our GW2 characters would share in the glory of our GW1 ancestors, so this change is a welcome sight.
But I would discuss a possible bonus for those who actually maxed out our HoM. Getting 50/50 is a feat that took many many years, and getting a bonus for that in GW2 would be outstanding. I think an additional 500 achievement points for players with 50/50 could be acceptable.
I understand the argument that GW2 is a different game, and that this would punish current players who didn’t play GW1. But on the opposite side of that coin, it’s us hardcore GW1 players who paved the way for the current game we all know and love. The time invested in getting our HoM filled up is legendary. And since these two games are connected by lore, it makes perfect sense to not only get points for achievements in the current game, but also extra points for the loyalty and dedication we displayed.
An alternative to this would be, dare I say it, a free Precursor for all whom made 50/50? I did mention that our feats are legendary. So why not a gift to showcase this legendary status? It would also show Anet’s love for us!
Let’s open this discussion! The last update has shown it’s possible to make adjustments to the point standings. Any additional points or freebies would be the icing on the cake!
This is going too far. If you don’t have 50/50 you are only getting 450 points. That last 50 points that takes it up to 500 is your reward for 50/50. You are out of your mind if you think a precursor would be an appropriate reward.
Getting 50/50 in GW1 is NOT DIFFICULT. It is just time consuming.
Time is dedication. Anet is rewarding gw1 players for their dedication.

It’s quite difficult when you have a full time job, a family, and HoH ganking duties with the guild. So it ended up being like…. say…. doing the Clocktower puzzle all day, everyday, for a year.

I have a lot of characters…but I only wear GWAMM on one of them, thus that comment doesn’t make sense from my point of view. The character who wears it is a completely egotistical Asura mesmer named The Great Imagio. Most of my other characters wear other titles.
And btw, it’s totally possible to get 50/50 points without getting GWAMM.
We already get a ton of stuff for HoM, and while that’s great we really don’ need anymore. It is a different game. You should get the best rewards for achievements in THIS game.

Well I don’t know about need or not need, but I think anything that the HoM gave you should have been determined before launch. Adding it now would only divide the community.

Completely over your head.
Why stop at precursors? I would personally award every 50/50 HoM GW1 player with an account bound legendary weapon. In fact I would also reward them with 500g every month just as a recognition for spamming candies like crazy during the golden age of Spammadan.
People do you even hear your greedy voices when you come up with ideas like these? You are seriously asking for rewards in GW2 for things you’ve done in GW1? Well guess what – nobody asked of you to spent thousands of hours just to get one silly title, it was your own decision. You got the title and it should be a satisfaction to yourself, not people around you. How is spending more time in a game which you payed once loyalty to the developer when in fact by doing so you are utilizing more of their server resources?
I’ve played GW1 for eight long years yet I settled for 30/50 (in fact its a a bit more, not quite sure how much more) and do you know what’s recognition for me when it comes to GW1? The fact that in all the years to come my GW1 friends will remember me as being one of them – a small but important part of a group of people which shaped Tyria and their friendship at the same time. No amount of other “recognitions” can replace that.

Just some background information on the OP. He had a previous thread where he wanted the drop rate of charged lodestones nerfed. Why? Because he had his Legendary made and wanted to deny others their Legendary so he could feel more special.

I see you haven’t lost your sense of entitlement OP. First you want to make it harder for other people to get a Legendary after you got one, now you want extra rewards for playing some other game. Somehow I’m not surprised to see this thread from you.

You have the title, isn’t that bonus enough? You aren’t begging for anything extra, but you aren’t exactly saying ‘’no, I wouldn’t like anything extra" either. It’s obvious by the replies in this thread that you want something more. I don’t care how hard the title is to get honestly. The title is enough in my opinion. If they gave precursors away, you’d see a huge S storm. ANet might give you more skins & titles (though not sure why they would) but yeaaah, nope on the precursors.
This thread reeks of the desire to brag/gloat on your hard GW1 endeavors infront of others IMO. That’s limited in this game as it is & I’m happy. Anything that would change that gets a huge no from me.
Edit: lol @ that link, OP got pegged.
Dude. You already got the Champion of the Gods title for 50/50 HOM. Go wear that if you want recognition.
Jesus Christ champion of the gods isn’t good enough?
Edit: they should strip your title for being such a kittenr

(50/50 in HoM and GWAMM myself)
I was wondering how long before someone attempted to bring this up.
Setting aside your informal fallacies, there’s a difference here. Players with a sense of “entitlement” want free stuff for doing nothing. HoM 50/50 was earned, thus it’s not entitlement if you actually deserve it.
It IS entitlement to ask for more and more, however.
I just posted in another thread in huge support for GW1 players who got their HoM achievements to receive the extra AP in GW2. I’m GLAD that ANet recognises you and rewards you and gives you extra little things in GW2 to show off the fact that you’ve been a loyal customer for years.
HOWEVER, there’s a line to be drawn. Why should the things you’ve done in GW1 place you on a higher tier altogether in GW2, even if, say you’ve done nothing in GW2?
No, there wouldn’t be GW2 without a GW1, but equally, now there IS a GW2, it is also a separate game. You can’t go asking for all the rewards for nothing JUST because you worked hard in the last one. Nobody denies that you worked hard for the points in GW1. ANet have rewarded you for it, have recognised you for it. Anything extra now would be a bit of a kick in the face to GW2 players.
You’re acting as though those of us who didn’t play GW1 waited for GW2 just so we could get stuff you don’t have (but can also get, anyway) and then jeer at you for being so silly to waste all those hours in GW1. Which is ridiculous.
Asking for anything more at this point is absolutely entitlement.
There is no “entitlement” for something that is deserved. In this case, the proper term for it would be a “reward”.
But back to the point at hand. Having the bonus points for HoM is awesome in and of itself. I’m just suggesting that people with maxed out 50/50 could get a little bit extra. This idea is no different than getting your Quartz node for doing 16/16 Bazaar achievements.
It is entitlement once you were given your reward and you still ask for more. How is that not entitlement. You worked hard, were rewarded, and now you want even more.
But yes, back to the point at hand, I think that the extra bit you get for the 50/50 achievement is the title, and always was the title, no? As ANet explained, you get the vanity items for the extra effort as anything else would impact the game.
But to be clear, I really am glad that you are recognised for what you’ve achieved in GW1. And, if you got something like a GW1 players only emote or something that would be truly awesome. Like a secret “old group” handshake kind of thing. I wouldn’t be on here crying out “unfair”. My objection isn’t to the fact that you are rewarded, it is the fact that you are rewarded and then ask for more.
If at work you get rewarded with a bonus for completing a project on time as asked, you don’t turn around and ask for more because you got it in early even though that required more work.
A special emote is a wonderful idea. Another player brought it up, and it’s definitely something Anet should consider.
Precursors would be an extra nice reward. But I only brought that up as an option. That way, there wouldn’t be a need to have a Scavenger Hunt.

Uh oh – dare I say it? What about GW2 players who didn’t play GW1? We would still like a Scavenger Hunt, lol!
An emote would be awesome, and would promote envy (the good kind, where you really do get to be part of a special club even if it means nothing much in terms of fiscal value). It sort of also implies that you did something special to be part of this “club”, so I like that idea and would fully support it.
I’m all up for ANet giving more rewards to 50/50 Hom…in GW1, because that’s where you earned it.
Also, claiming to deserve more when no one else thinks you do and you see no problem with it, is like the very definition of entitlement -.-

For me HoM should reward:
- Several weapons/armor skins, titles, that were in fact relevant in GW1;
- Special Dyes that have somesort of glow effect;
- Special relevant GW1 NPC’s mini’s (dragons etc…);
- Special picks, harvest and axes with unlimmited amounts;
For me HoM should NEVER reward:
- AP;
- Gold;
- Karma
- Any other form of currency!
/cheers
i think your titles and achievement points are enough.
I do not agree that items should not be attainable in one game just because you didnt play the previous game.
Maybe they can give you some special minis or something but definitely not skins for armor/ weapons /back and especially not dyes
What we have + titles are enough.
If you think those of us with HoM achievements are unfairly rewarded you should have played GW1. The HoM rewards were announced ages before the game was released.
Just some background information on the OP. He had a previous thread where he wanted the drop rate of charged lodestones nerfed. Why? Because he had his Legendary made and wanted to deny others their Legendary so he could feel more special.
this thread where he asks for the charged lodestone drop rate to be nerfed
I see you haven’t lost your sense of entitlement OP. First you want to make it harder for other people to get a Legendary after you got one, now you want extra rewards for playing some other game. Somehow I’m not surprised to see this thread from you.
Who says you actually deserve it? The only person here who says that is you. Yes you, and I, achieved 50/50. And we got lots of stuff for it. Exclusive armor, weapons, mini pets, ranger pets, vanity titles and now an additional 500 achievement points worth an extra reward chest. Asking for more is greedy, but not surprising for a person like you who wanted to stop others from getting a Legendary weapon after you got yours. That does seem to be your theme. ‘I got mine and to heck with anyone else’. Not real strong on the old empathy it seems.

Exactly.
