Dear arenanet/Guildwars2,
I am going to address the problems here in simple words to further improve your game design and make your game addictive as it can be.
Before i begin, the level of detail on the map design, graphics, character movement, dialogs; ideas on vistas, point of interest, waypoints, dynamic events, was absolutely mind blowing. I do not believe any other game developers had put so much effort in detail to make this game so unique, and so detailed that most casual gamers took it for granted. Well, you have my greatest respect and i absolutely cherish your game design, and the sounds, dialog, almost everything was perfect. I have a 3d vision setup so i play this game in 3d and i have to say, it was fantastic. I truly believe this game is worth more than what it is sold in the market due to it’s f2p.
If you meant to make this game f2p but p2upgrade, then you really got to make this game so addictive and rewarding to players who really enjoy themselves in the game and devote it to it that they are willing to play not because to make their character look awesome, but most players that i have known payed because they truly believe arenanet deserve all that they have produce, just like in guildwars1.
I believe this game can go right to the top. Definitely this game needs some slight tweak. Here are some very minor problems.
Problem: End game crafting items or drop items are far too many posted in Trading post which makes them too available, and causing the economy on nice gears too easy to reach.
Solution: Cooldown on really hot crafting items?
Problem: Killing Veterans/Champions is not very rewarding. Many just skip to complete POI/Vistas.
Solution: Give players the insentive to be rewarded according to level/effort?
Problem: Almost every world boss fights, eg: dragon, giants have the same pve structure, which is so boring. Avoid red circles, and dps/spank indefinitely.
Eg: dragons, target both hands and head, avoid aoe circles.
Eg: Champions: avoid stun/poison.
Feels like child play.
Many players want to play the game over and over because it is
challenging = fun eg: tactical, strategical, there is the need for the balance of support, dps, melee, equipment like those mortars from the dragon fights.
rewarding= fullfillment eg: decent rewards which has several soulbound and boe
epic gamefight= memorable.
I honestly got this feeling that arenanet is playing safe and making sure that everyone will succeed in taking down almost every world event epic monster and not allowing players to really strategy themselves into trying to take down a very epic dragon or champion.
This is what every mmorpg game is all about. If you don’t know the game, then probably you gotta learn how to win the game with allies, friends, guild members or else people can go to youtube to search how to down a particular world boss.
A couple of the dungeon bosses was very well designed, it gave memorable event for many players, especially those that failed.
Most of the players that failed decided to return and could not believe they cannot take down the boss again.
Now that is an epic game.
