I understand that you are working on the bot issue, but could you possibly look into a feature where if you report a player, that somehow this is recognized so you can move onto another bot. Either by message, or color, or something.

The big issue for me right now is these groups are so huge, 10-15 players running around, fast shooting, and with animals, that when I start reporting them, it gets confusing on who has been reported and who has not. EXAPLE. Bot names I saw last evening were ntcughksh, ntcasjdkj, ntcajksdjk, etc. I don’t know who I have reported and who the heck I have not.

I am just trying to help you guys out and report as many as I can, but might be doing duplicates and not getting everyone. A feature would help to determine who has been reported by your account.

I dont want to be a downer here, but your wasting your time reporting them.

If they cannot have an automated system that detects a large group of naked players (usually rangers) running around in the same spot 24 hours a day weeks on end with names like ntcughksh, ntcasjdkj, ntcajksdjk, then there is no hope for this game.

Case in point, there is a player who is hacking on WvW, and has many screenshots of him doing so (someone even had a vid I believe), one of his char names is ‘Ihackedmychar’ or something like that. Been reported probably a few hundred times. And you know what has been done? Take a guess.

I have faith in GW2 staff that they are just trying to get their arms around it. They did take care of all the gold spammers.

I think what I proposed might make it easier to get all the botters names out there while playing. In doing so, players will be more inclined to take the time to report the botters and see improvement faster.

It’s not an easy task getting rid of all these bot players. There are hacked accounts out there as well. You cannot IP ban them since they can just easily change their IP.

I guess what I am saying, is that I have huge faith that they have something in the works and that they just need us, as good players to take the time and report as much as we can. This will help us do that.

Economy breaking bots and sPvP hackers. That’s perfectly ok, they aren’t tampering with the holy FoV.

Again, I don’t want this turning into another complaining thread about Botters. There are enough of these threads out there. I want there to be discussion on how Arena Net can change the reporting function for the better. I really think that better reporting will help them make their jobs easier.

Right now, I know for a fact that I might of mistakenly reported the same guy in some huge groups maybe 3 times. Or even reported him again 2 hours later. I want to fix this where hopefully it cuts down on the amount of duplicate reports coming in.

I would also like to see the reporting feature made more robust. if not the above suggestion or in addition to it; perhaps making the system so that you cannot open a report window on a character that you have already reported…or giving you a warning / notice that you have already reported this character. When they are in a thick pack, it’s very easy to click on the wrong toon.

  1. ANet staff have mentioned in this forum that if you report one bot in a mob of bots, they will also find the others during their investigation.
  2. As a work-around, I always /block before /report. This makes it easier to see whether I have already reported the account (you see an “unblock” option) and reduces the likelihood that I report the wrong character.
  3. Duplicate reporting is probably not an issue for ANet, because their software will (likely) group all reports about the same account into one listing.

That said, I agree that they could improve the reporting interface for players:

  • Reporting for botting, gold-selling, scamming, spamming automatically blocks/mutes the account.
  • Give players the option to remove accounts from their personal /block|/mute list if they become unbanned for botting/gold-selling (since these would be hijacked accounts restored to the rightful owner).
