I think a lot of players are irritated by the high number of botting at the moment. We saw lines of 20 bots walking etc. We saw bots last week and still the same three people who have already been reported numerous times are STILL on the same spot and STILL doing the same. It really ruins the economy of the game.

Isn’t it an idea to have an active GameMaster in several servers which has the power to ban bots right ahead or at least for 1 day?

A GM that checks out reported players.
A GM that gets all “botting” issues in his mail.

Kind regards,
Niiloc

I’d like to see some kind of crowdsourcing of this botting issue ^^.

If there is grinding to be done, then there are bots to carry you through it. The only way to put a stop to bots is to put a stop to grinding.

Well, from what I’ve seen, a lot of bots use a set path/pattern to their “playing”. Every action you do has to be sent to the server and then sent back. In theory, anet could be tracking what every single player is doing and saying.

We also know that anet has a tracking system put in place with messages and mail, putting a limit of how many times you say similar things and then muting you (ie “LFG” or “LFM” or what it’s originally suppose to mute “buy gold”).

Would it not be feasible for ANET to do something similar with player pathing patterns? Ie if a group of players are in the same area (same place/pathing within lets say 50-100 units deviation) and repeating this pathing in a set time frame (15-30 min) flag them for a GM/ANET employee to look at.

Why even have to botting report if you cant see that it is being done? Seems to me with the reporting function in place there should already be a way to review the account for signs of the reported behavior. I report every bot I see yet upon returning to an area on a different toon 3 WEEKS after report a group of obvious bots (also, I got a half dozen to ten other players in the area to report the behavior, which they confirmed they did!) I find the very same group of bots running the same circles killing the same enemies! Ridiculous.

I hate to break it to you, but botting isn’t what ruined the GW2 “economy”. The TP is a buyer’s market, viciously slanted in favor of the buyer.

I saw my first bottrain! I’ve been reading about these bots here for a while but never knowingly saw one in-game. Well, last night I did. In the ‘Blood Fields’ of the Gendarran(sp?) Fields I saw a long, single file line of ten-or-so ‘players’ all hoovering up every last mob in the area. There is at least one Heart to complete in this location and it took fookin’ ages because so many of the bots were landing the majority of the damage it was extremely difficult to earn any kill assist credit.

If this is a taste of things to come in the later stages of the game then I’ll probably reach a point where I’ll support any proposal to get rid, even the more right wing suggestions!
