Bring Back GvG
Why are people so incapable of understanding that the name Guild Wars has absolutely nothing to do with PvP and everything to do with the game’s lore?
Also, you ask if the devs read these threads. Probably. Do they have to provide a personalised answer to your thread? No.
“Please note that you should not expect a personalized, individual response to your suggestions, due to the massive volume of posts that the Suggestions sub-forum will generate.”

I’d change your title to reflect your suggestion.
In terms of lore, the Guild Wars stopped BECAUSE of the Charr invasion.
Not to mention in GW, GvG took place in Guild Halls, which is something they’ve said they’d look into.
Search is your friend. Use it.
Time is a river.
The door is ajar.
edited title name. apologies.
thanks for the responses, unhelpful attacks are always welcome on the forum.
No, I don’t expect an individual response, but I’d love to read something on it.
A better question would be, “how are people so completely incapable of reading an entire post before they comment on it.” Pretty clear that I mentioned the lore aspect in my original thought. Besides… really? I make a joke about the name of the game and that’s what you fixate on? Wow.
Is it so unreasonable to ask for something as wildly popular both within WvW as well as the previous game as Guild battles on an epic proportion without being attacked for it? Good grief.
Regarding my original title, fair enough, stupid idea, I changed it.
If you don’t agree with the idea of bringing gvg back, say so, if you do then say that. Other than that, why waste your time attacking someone on meaningless things in their post rather than the idea… this is a suggestions forum, do you have a better suggestion as to where I can put my suggestion? Do you have a link to a thread where the devs have discussed this in detail recently? That’d be awesome.

It may be possible that ANet could add some sort of GvG system in future, especially as they have talked about GW2 being part of the esports scene in the past.
To be honest, one of the things I like about GW1 was the ability to spectate GvG battles so from that perspective, I would like to see something like that return in GW2.
How about a live arena like ancient Rome That’d be awesome… probably impossible from a lag standpoint, a thousand people all pack into some arena somewhere in WvW map or something, but it’d still be awesome
WE want GvG Back to return full glory of the GW1 game !!!!
I want to have fun again in PvP !!!
My guild (Empërium [EMP] on JQ) just did a few GvG bouts with Tac Sym [Tsym] on SoS today. Our guild leaders got in contact with each other, and set up some ground rules, negotiated the battlefield, and the positioning and all of that. Our two ~30 man teams squared off and participated in a series of 9 controlled battles wherein the two teams would go at each other until the other team wiped. Rezzing from downed was allowed, but rezzing from death was not. screenshot:

The point is, people are interesting in GvG, it’s a form of PvP that allows guilds to bond together and improve their coordination in WvW as well. We had so much fun doing GvG and we ended up learning a lot, we had in depth tactical discussions of what could have been done better and we ended up having a lot of people speak up and give input who normally don’t say much. Also, in the screenshot, you can see numerous people standing on the boardwalk to the left watching the battle, There were Blackgate invaders, and Sea of sorrow’s invaders up there, and even more people, including some JQ, came to watch later on. People enjoy watching GvG matches, and would enjoy them even more if there was a real system set up with points and structure.
Here is another screenshot where you can see how many people came to watch the GvG matches. We kept them short, sweet and to the point and they were both fun to play and watch.

This is really something that ought to be implemented, I understand that Anet doesn’t want to create content that can’t be accessed by relatively casual or unsocial players, but you can pretty clearly see that GvG is something that people enjoy watching even if they can’t play it. I understand the lore behind the name guild wars, but GvG was very much an integral part of GW1. Like i said, there doesn’t need to be any crazy bells and whistles, just set up a system so that each side can see how many enemies they are facing, and have an arena that can only be accessed by guilds, but has spectator areas for those who wish to watch.
