Guild Wars has a conflicting philosophy when it comes to the current state of armor acquisition. At the end game, it’s apparent that the point of the game is to be the shiniest player, and I’m perfectly okay with that after 6 years of playing GW1. In fact I prefer it over the loot carrot.
The problem is that skins have predetermined stats, and I realize that this is probably a ploy to get the player to purchase transmute stones (which is not a huge problem, considering the game does need revenue). The issue it brings is the fact that the current system severely cripples the potential of the crafting system.
I am in favor, along with other players, of using the old system from Guild Wars 1, although in this case the player has the ability to actually craft the insignias with the stats they want, rather than buy them, as in the old game.
Tailors can craft insignias specific to light armor, leatherworkers to medium, and armorsmiths to heavy.
Jewelers can craft insignias for jewelry, and weapons to their corresponding profession.
