Bring back Heroes
No No No No.
GW1 was totally ruined by heroes. People tralalala-ing through all content with no effort needed. Worse thing bout what once was a perfect game. Keep it far away from this one.
If people treat you badly, report them. if you want to play on your own with others play skyrim or something like that. This is a multiplayer game.
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
Heroes were not that good.
Missions like Tahnnakai Temple were not easily done by heroes.
I do agree some hero builds were O.P and generally rushed thru the game with no effort.
Things like hardmode countered this but not enough.
They should give it a try and just try balance things.
As for solo playing, i do enjoy my own time. But some people are just simply not worth the time to play with. Some people are just kittens.
Heroes were great for GW1 because everything was everything was instanced, content didn’t scale, and the mechanics were simple. They just wouldn’t work in GW2.

There is one big issue with NPC-helpers in GW2.
Dodging and avoiding certain attacks.
Either it would have to be extremely OP by avoiding every single attack the enemy made, or else they would be unable to avoid anything. And none of those situations are good.

So why not just heroes for dungeons all of which are instances. I do agree that heroes in the open world, pvp, and wvw wouldn’t work out too well, but heroes for dungeons and other instances would be nice. You could have rewards scale down for taking a full compliment of heroes and progressively scale up as you take fewer and fewer heroes. Dungeon difficulty would have to scale down though for heroes to work, but at least if you can’t find that full party of real players you can at least fill in the blank with a hero and not have to wait to find someone to go. Also would help if someone DC’s and can’t get back in. Of course, in that case the rewards that follow the addition of a hero should scale down and will remained scaled down for the entire instance. Once heroes are chosen they cannot be substituted for a real player. I think it could work and don’t see how it would hurt the game.
I would like if it was possible to use your own alts as “heroes” that could be used everywhere (they would be npcs, of course). It would be cool for roleplay. Edit: with “everywhere”, I mean open world and dungeons. PVE only, not pvp and wvw.
However, I can see a person making 5 zerker warriors and soloing everything, so I know it won’t happen.
About regular hero system like the one on GW1, people already said what I think about it. It wouldn’t work on GW2 because the AI is a bit lacking concerning dodges and blocks. I think we would end up with a bunch of Trahearnes; dead everywhere, all the time.
