Ok I for one like what you guys are doing as far as living story goes very creative and fun things have came from this… BUT it has been a year now and I still see all these old zones we used to love just sitting there blank. Can you plz start bringing back old zones such as (Crystal Desert, Ring of Fire Islands, Maguuma wastes/Falls. I for one had played gw1 for a long time and I miss these places and think you all should start taking the “Living Story” back to these much missed zones. Let us know what happened in these zones in the last 250 years. Bring us back to the roots of prophecies where the game used to be we all miss it and want it back. We miss Tomb of the Primeval Kings, UW, FoW. I am sure you all can find some really neat and creative ways to bring back all these old areas.

I understand your feeling, but it takes time to do it properly and there is an issue with most of these zones.

First off all, the firts year after release they took time to polish things up. In gw1 it felt like they where over rushing new content without solving old problems. Arenanet takes an approach to not follow the guided path by -insert mmo a, b or c here- but tries to reinvent the genre and set a new standard. This means they are not a productionline like some other gaming company’s, where they build on the same old things.

You can see that they are taking their first steps in adding new maps (sab world 2, queens pavillion, bazaar). Even if temporary, they are moving to the right point.

The problem with the maps you are mentioning is that they contain something called elder dragons. Far shiverpeaks are ‘reserved’ for Jormag. maguuma wastes is for Mordremoth, Crystal desert is for primordus. Only the ring of fire is available, if not under control of ’bubbles – aka deep sea dragon.

If you saw the interview colin gave a month ago you saw him talking bout a dilemma they are having. He didn’t say it in so many worths, but this is how I understood it.

They want to use the living story instead of traditional expansions to release future main content for the game. They also want it to be free of charge. This means that they have to evolve the living story step by step to that level without ruining the concept. Besides that, free of charges means that income from gemstore microtransactions should stay on a high level (they have to make profit in the end). It might turn out to be too much to pull that off and it might be that they step back and use traditional payed for expansions. So the question is do you believe they should make this experiment and all the benefits work? or should they step back now without really trying to the expansions model?
