Bring back random boss names from GW1!
I second this!
It added something to the game with GW1 – you felt like you were taking down these renowned foes and it also gave them a character of sorts. When you’re just taking down “Champion Ettin” it just feels like you’re fighting any other Ettin….
Me too, sometimes the random names were pretty awesome and it added an epic feel to the game.
Please please please! Those random bosses were awesome and would give ANet a very simple addition to the game that would go a long way.

To some extent i agree as i grew to hate Rago Kindlerick for never dropping his staff for me and names like Wroth Yakslapper were great . At the same time however you have that “how many times do i have to kill you” feeling and bosses don’t have unique items in GW2 . I’d pity the people coming up with that many names too.
The boss names did make them more memorable. Nobody will remember Grawl Champion, but Yakslapper is gold.

I hope too, that ANet will change this someday.
Coming up with suitable nice sounding names for all of them is absolutely no problem at all.
Wherefor has Anet hundreds of thousands of very creative smart thinkers under their veil of international communities, which can come up with lots of interesting cool names for those veteran and champions in this game, which have so far no individual name!
This would be absolutely a perfect thing for a little nice “Design the Monster Name- Contest”, don’t you think too??
+1 I miss the unique names for those champion fights.
Agreed, that would be something fun and minor to see happen lol.
/signed, seconded, +1 whatever.
Definitely would make it feel more creative than just another Vet xxx something or Champion yyy something…

I really would like to see something like this implemented +1.
Yep, I said this in another post, the way bigger monsters are just Veteran or Champion makes them seem like they come off an assembly line.
In GW1 who can forget boss names like Spasmo Thunderbolt etc. In GW2 they’re easier to remember because everything is Champion or Veteran drones.

Definitely yes!!!
All those “veteran”, “champion”, “veteran champion” names are incredibly boring.
GW1’s names were not random.
They were fixed.
They even made contests to name bosses, except the few ones that for some reason never got named.
GW2s rarely has named bosses, except in instances, so you can’t kill someone twice, as the world is persistent.
Some that seem to be named actually have some kind of rank or nickname that is used for whoever gets that position when the previous one dies.
Even if they added a huge pool or random pieces for names, they end up repeating sooner or later, and random names are a pain to document in the Wiki, as there’s one article per entity of the game, and they’ll have to make up names for them.
They were’nt random names in GW1, but I’d like to see more world bosses with actual names. Keep the vet/champ/legendary tags as those are very good at telling players roughly how hard a mob is, but just give them real names, so it’d look like “Champion Bonegnasher Spikefuzz” or whatever.
Also, a return of the named drops from all these bosses would be cool. Easily one of the most fun things about world bosses in GW1 after the sorrow’s furnace update was the green weapons with preset max stats and attachments. To prevent people from needing to farm a specific boss, you could just roll table exotic or rare weapons with a little flavor text about the boss, like karma weapons have.
