Bring back the Dervish class
Its already in game. Just give guardian’s a scythe and you basically have dervish.
Dervish was my favourite class in GW1. I remember when they didn’t announce the 8th class, I crossed my fingers for Dervish. Nope, stupid Mesmers.
Nobody liked Mesmers. I still don’t think people really do.
Makes sense though since Gwen was a Mesmer.
Paragon would be epic too. Nobody likes Paragon either, but it was just too awesome.
Though spears are now being used for Underwater…
Ooo, maybe Ritualists too, those guys ruled.
I want my ritualistic back !
I think we’ll see Dervish as a returning class in the expansion that takes places in Elona

Same with rit in cantha.
In terms of the playstyle offered, Guardian essentially took the place of the Dervish, while the Engineer took the place of the Ritualist. Different aesthetics, sure, but they play similarly.

Mesmer also plays kinda simular to rit with its illusion’s.
Guardian plays no way like dervish.
Everybody thinks Guardian is like some huge tanked dude with tons of buffs that never dies.
Guardian’s only buffs are the virtues, really. And then, they suck.
Guardian is moreso Paragon, with the Shouts as buffs to allies.

Have you even played a guardian? Playing one as my main and having played dervish back in GW1 the two play very very simular.
The biggest problem with bringing the Dervish back is that 2/3 of its skills were based of the gods and they are chillaxing with popcorn now so the Dervishes skill pool is very limited .

I mained as a Dervish in GW1. I am maining as a Guardian in GW2. I can promise you that the two are very similar.
Honestly, I think the best Paragon analogue is actually the Warrior, with shouts and banners. Warriors are the main “leader-dude” profession now.
OP, I think you need to specify how you want the dervish to come back. Warrior / ranger / guardian with a greatsword all get the Dervish’s signature AoE melee attack, anyone who’s human gets two of the signature Avatar forms, and Guardian’s got enchantments on himself that he can tear down for gains in the form of Virtues.
When everything that made the dervish special mechanically can be emulated by playing a Human Guardian with a Greatsword, what are you suggesting to make the new Guild Wars 2 dervish unique?
So shines a good deed in a naughty world.

The main thing i think that makes people think guardians are nothing like a dervish is the hp. But then again if you bumped guardian to warrior tier of hp and gave them scythe and cloth looking armor you would have the dervish. And they wouldent need the gods as they would be gods them selfs. And me playing a guardian as my main would laugh hysterically till they nerfed the snot outa us. At which point i would cry hysterically begging them to take us to how we are now.

Stupid mesmer? Speak for yourself! I hated the mesmer in GW1, but I love the GW2 version. (main is a mesmer)
While I definitely enjoyed the Dervish, it would be a delicate balance of making the Dervish feel like its own class without trampling on Guardians’ toes.
The Paragon would be an idea. Since the spear is an underwater weapon, they could institute the polearm for a Paragon. However, the Paragon would also possibly run aground with the Guardian.
Sea of Sorrows
No. We don’t need a shouting support profession, considering warriors already do a good job of that. How about coming up with a class that would actually do something unique?

Paragons are more singing support than shouting as they had chants and echos .
All the same thing. Half of the guardian’s shouts are remakes of Paragon skills, and another one is named for the main skill in the *only* paragon meta-PvE build ever. And then there’s warriors, where half of their shouts are support. Shout, Chant, Echo, and Finale, well, it’s all the same thing, a class that’s already been put in the game.
