I miss the orb defenses and takes in WvW. It provided a focus for battle and strategy as well as something to care about that was not just a capture point flipping battle. I do not miss the the unbalanced results of a single realm having all the orbs, the exploits, and the bugs.

Perhaps there would be some way to put a value on possessing the orb on the map it is on without spreading the orb bonus to all maps or making the orb bonus something useful that does not over power the holders.

imo swap the old orb bonus and the overpowered bonus, that would give a chance to fight for the servers with lower numbers, and controlling the orbs would give you more xp/karma etc

until they find a way to stop the exploiters (which will never happen because ANet truly sucks at fixing anything) we’ll never see the orbs back regardless of what bonuses they’d give.

Why not give them a drawback?
Holding an orb of power could give boni but at the cost of adding some mali.
i.e. debuff some stats like WvW repair costs, dolyak travel time, amount of supply, etc.
…but adds boni on MF, Gold find, additional harvesting node

Or even vice versa.
Either lure winning side with some nice-to-have world-wide pve boni at the cost of pvp stats.
Or give incentive for losing side to get some pvp buffs, but at the cost of world-wide pve boni while keeping incentive low for the already winning server to capture the orb.
