Bronze->Silver->Gold Medal events.

I agree with everything you wrote. I have been having the EXACT same feeling with events and rewards. Why bother doing it from the start when you will end up having gold reward just by participating the last 2 minutes. Makes me angry and also make’s me not want to do events. What’s the purpose in having ranks if everyone get’s the highest rank all the time?
Anet could add an even higher rank for those that have been contributed alot to the event (been with it from the start, never died, did most damage, did pre-events etc.)
I’ve not bothered to check but is the coin/karma/experience static for the gold medals regardless of how much they did the event?
Well, i noticed something in game….
Gold = event sucess (and you participated)
Silver = event sucess (and you didnt have much influence)
Bronze = event failed (that you have participated or not)
But i agree with all you said up there =P

Not sure whats being asked there, but if it’s “do coin/karma/experience rewards differ from participation medals” then the answer is yes but its hardly noticable.

Look at the “Event rewards” section. the difference is there but compare time put in versus reward and its better to just jump into a few events for a few minutes, run to next 1 and get silver rewards constantly. (although currently, I bet you would get a gold medal for that kinda effort.. guess we’re all golden stars in Tyria ^^)

Ohhh nooooo… no no no no no… The level 30 going to jormag event should not be raised. Thankfully they don’t get gold too easily so I guess if your drastically underleveled for an event gold can be hard to get :s

I know the team is working on events in general to make them more appealing no matter what level the player is, but with soooooooo many questions can they realase another live stream answering some of them in more detail? The dragon events could be soo fun but they need not just a different method of rewards but also a different event in summary. They are exciting to some but many games (not trying to discourage the team, I am grateful for this team at ArenaNet) have made repeatable events or encounters exciting no matter how many times we did it. Dragon lieutenants should be that spark for PVE, and even if we don’t get a rare or exotic we should be able to say," Man, that was quite exillerating". They were extremely fun the first 10 or 15 times but no dragon fight should be the exact same. Mini events could accomplish soo much yet they all are “deal damage to dragon”. The multiple encounters during them seem to have no effect on the event unless they want little loot here and there and dragon events are “fail proof”.

Once an event started in a higher level charr area, can’t remember where. Basically a bunch of veteran Flame Legion Shamans were spawned and I had to kill them in X time. Soloed it. Got a silver medal<.<
and dragon events are “fail proof”.
Yup. Something Rift did a little better with Dynamic Events is that they had WAY more impact on the world. Oh didnt close the rift? Now itll take the closest village etc etc. Now and again a HUGE event would start in a zone, invading everything. Not enough people? Sucks to be you. Now the whole area is invested and you can clear it out.
Might not seem very good or cool, but at least there was more of an impact on the world. There rarely is any in GW2 unfortunately.
so what you are saying is you’d prefer if an event started and was like 40% left that people walking by would go, " not enough left to get a decent reward may as well not help these people"? That is what would happen.

Your speaking numbers, I’m talking about rewards reflecting your participation. If you want to wait till the last 40% of an event to start doing something that’s your trouble, and would probably reward you silver at best. Is it fair that some people who start at the pre-event get consistent kitten litter over the few who pop in for a few minutes and get golden scratching posts? I think not. Lady RNG should be more friendly to those who actually participate and do the things for the event rather than logging onto an alt that was logged out in the event area and shooting a few skills off.

you can often get gold for failing grenth event…
i totally agree with the op

Thats another problem, you can get good rewards and still fail an event. Hardly feels like a world event when you get a runner up trophy and tons of loot for failing it. (Failing an event rewards half the karma/coin/experience of the medal you get).
I remember, and still occasionally do, grenth event being the place to “purposly fail”. Now, ArenaNet changed it so when grenth fails it takes awhile to start up again (or it was a bug, idk) but before I ran in with a zerg, failed it, went outside, went back in, failed again, rinse repeat. Got tons of rares, tier 6 mats and other loot. Events need many changes and ArenaNet have said they are working on them (yipee!)but the medals from the events need to be fixed as well.
Not sure if the medal you get affects world event chests such as temples or dragons, but if they don’t currently they definitly should in the future if they decide to adjust rewards towards your event medal.
