Alright. Its about time we do something about this. It happens in nearly every mmo. Big huge starting/racial/capitol cities which are completely dead after a month. The issue here is there is zero reason to go here besides your story quests and to grab some cultural armor. There are several things that can be done to increase activity in these areas.

Player Housing: Each character gets a house in his racial city.

Crafting Bonus: Give a bonus to crafting done in your racial city.

Events: Cities are dangerous places, have one or two small ‘camp’ sections in the city with waypoints. Everywhere else should have dynamic event pops like out in the main areas. Have it autoscale everyone to 80 so you don’t need to split the cities into different levels and just have it drop gear appropriate for your level. Each city should have a unique city boss on a timer (maybe 5-6hrs) that drops chests like the world dragons.

Server Clusters: For the racial cities only… Instead of just having the instance be your server only perhaps you could cluster together 3-4 servers so in example Maguuma, Northern Shiverpeaks, Crystal Desert, Dragonbrand would all share the same instance until player cap was reached and overflow kicks in.

Just a few ideas, sure some other people have some as well.

yes there are threads but this idea would be amazing! and I believe arena net is working on player housing and guildhalls for players, but I would love to see events in big city’s. They don’t even have to be attacks. Things like all the hospitals were robbed by bandits we need to restock on supplies and also find who ever did this and at the end of the event chain there is a huge boss. This way you wouldn’t have to scale everyone to level 80 and RP people wont be affected as a whole. We could just make the boss and the events Level 15 in a Level 9-13 zone. This would be great for exploration and other things an could lead to new dungeons through ideas like these. I’m sure the devs could make many more events to randomly go on in the city’s and make it worth while for players to revisit these areas.
