since I have a support ticket for this reason, and I think it is something that should be adressed:

I do suggest you all to create a way to make us able to buy the game for someone we know as a present, in someway that would make the process painless!

What makes it painful now?

Buy the game from Arenanet online, and you get emailed an game code. Give that code to who ever and they create an account for the game and start playing.

Or buy the game from a retailer and and give them the box.

So yeah, not sure what is so painful about it?
