Hi guys and devs of the Guild Wars 2 community,

I was recently scammed by a player who was advertising in map chat on the Lions Arch, at the Maguuma server. I submitted a private offer of 50g to him in which he accepted. Now you patronizers out there, do not look at me like that. I know that your response is “WHY THE HECK WOULD YOU SEND IT?!” It’s Dusk. He said he was quitting and by scamming he was going to be out $60.

I thought it seemed fair, and I went to send him the cash. He logged out immediately, and then a minute later another random guy was like who was that who scammed you? I think that these two are in it together, as they spoke very similarly, using 60$ instead of $60, and the fact that when one was online the other was not. Whole load of circumstantial evidence to boot and more than sufficient to ban this player.

To the devs: Please find a way to either restore my account, ban this guy, or use my story as an example to help your players. To lose HARD EARNED FUNDING is a devastating thing!

The user ID of the scammer in question was lezvicious.5160, IGN Good News Jim. His suspected alt that is in it with him is Rawxpower, and his ID is RaWxPoWeR.2891.

1 – A forum post is no good at reporting someone. Hit the support link up top and file the report that way.
2 – While I have heard unverified reports of scammers being banned, I have not heard anything about the victims getting their gold back.
3 – If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

^ This. Plus, the scammer’s story doesn’t even make sense. If the guy was “quitting” GW2, why on earth would he bother selling Dusk for gold? He should have just given it away for free because any gold he does get becomes worthless as soon as he stops playing the game.

The OP’s story is also why I would never, ever engage in a non-TP trade in GW2 unless it’s with a trusted friend or guildmate. If you absolutely must do a non-TP trade with a random stranger selling in town, INSIST that they send you the item first.

Anet is not going to restore your money for a mistake you made . I doubt you’re the first to fall for that persons scam either . This is one of those learn from your mistakes things in my opinion. Use the TP or get scammed that’s pretty much how it breaks down .
