Can we NOT have WvW in the monthlies anymore?
Completing the WvW part of the monthlies takes like 30m-3h. It shouldn’t bother anyone else but pacifists… Then again, why would a pacifist be playing a game largely focused around combat?
Then again, it brings people who don’t normally WvW to WvW to help their world. Even if they only do the monthly.
For example, lets say they spend 1,5h doing the monthly, killing invaders. Say there are 1000 players on a low pop server who don’t usually participate in WvW except for the monthly. This adds one player for 90 000 minutes in WvW for the server.
Or 10 players for 9 000 minutes. 9000minutes = 150 hours ~ 10 days (daytime, they don’t be there during nights.)
So, the server basically gets around 10% of max players for one map for 10 days. Helping their server in WvW. I do not think that is a bad thing.
Of course, that 1000 was just an example, there might be more players going to WvW just for monthlies on some servers.
People who can’t tend to call the opponent troll, scream something utterly incomprehensible
and finally result to personal insults.

i agree with OP i always hated being forced to enter wvw for the monthlies
If you don’t want to do the achievement, just don’t do it… The rewards you get from the monthly achievement aren’t really a need. You only complete every single achievement if you want to

This. WvW buffs affect everything in the rest of the game. You take advantage of them, monthlies are a way to get people to contribute. As was said before, you dont HAVE to do the monthly. Its just extra. ..Like the extra you get from wvw buffs xD
News flash WvW will always be part of the monthly rather you like it or not.
I agree with OP.
My problem with WvW is that represent unfinished product in technical terms of speaking. Game engine is not well optimized for WvW and makes game horribly slow even with lowered resolution and reduced graphics. That is not fun, it is bad as hell and as such should not be forced upon players to do it.
hey OP … can we NOT have PvE in the monthlies anymore. Being forced into PvE for that (and to complete the maps) is probably my least favorite thing about the game, but it feels like such a waste when I look at my tab late in the month and see everything but that full so I feel compelled to trudge through it anyway.
Heres a thought, how about a checkmark that allowed you to remove the WvW requirements from monthlys. In trade for the whole month you don’t get any of the WvW bonuses. Sounds fair.
I’m honestly kind of bugged that these folks that refuse to participate in WvW get anything at all from our effort myself. Especially when they scoff at us for going into LA to try to drum up a little extra support.
If they want to complain, let them take WvW off their monthlies then. But keep them from being freeloaders and getting the ~10% buff to everything they do in trade.
It helps bring people into WvW to help the server, I dont see how this could bother unless you have OCD.
I despise Fractals with a passion and would love NEVER to do them again, please remove them from monthlies :-)
It’s not a big deal to me.
In my opinion, a little PvP is healthy if all you play is PvE. Gives you a nice change of scenery every now and then.
Just like how if you are a gamer, it’s good to go outside every couple of days. Soak up some vitamin D.

In my opinion I think that monthlies should just be a bigger version of dailies. I have zero desire to pvp or run dungeons especially when I can only play in short spurts of time. Then I also have to wait for wvw and wait to form groups. I just feel that the monthlies now are not very accessible to players like me.

Also wait for groups?! get in a kitten guild? follow commanders. Bloody hell – how fickle can you be?
It’s a fairly strong mechanic to get apathetic deadweight PvE players to try WvW.
Don’t like it, don’t do it.
The overall benefits to gameplay outweigh the inconvenience to you.
Honestly, if you do not do any PvP outside of the required amount for the monthly, you do not know how to play your profession. PvE doesn’t give you the experience required to master your profession. Sure you can learn all the tricks to every dungeon, but you will never be a truly good player unless you can play against (and defeat) other players of the same and different professions. And yes, this makes a difference in PvE content.
If you want the kills fast, wait until reset night and jump in any map and follow any group around. You are bound to get 50 kills in 10-40 minutes.

I’m just passing by, but… Imagine if A-Net removes WvW from monthly, and removes Badges of Honor as a requirement for legendary Oh, and the jumping puzzle gives you only useful stuff for WvW xD

It would be awfully bad. The only thing you’d have left is those crappy world bonuses. PvE players already leech off those at an incredibly disproportionate rate, and I can’t think of one single thought process that could be running through some PvEr’s mind that would make them want to chip in their part for the boosts.
Crafters would just farm more mats/cash for “critical” success, whatever the hell that even means.
People farming harvest nodes would much rather put in more time finding more nodes than playing for hours in WvW to get a ~5% boost at it.
Healing/protection buffs don’t apply to anyone soloing or farming events. In dungeons, there aren’t any elite “raiding” situations like other MMOs where everyone needs to be maxed to the max with every little buff to get past bosses.
I think there’s also cash find, which is nice, but a PvE player can either keep farming to get extra cash, or go into WvW to pay for armor repairs constantly, and burn money on upgrades/seige plans.
