God and all forces in the galaxy NO. Defeats the whole point of the game.
The point of fun.
Progression = getting something (with hard work) that others dont have (without hard work). Basically it dephends on time and effort(that needs time).
So who ever has more time to play rox? Thats a stupid concept and i cant agree with it.

On other hand, ok reward players that work hard. Let them Grind and Farm. WE did it in Gw1 and it was fun when we got cool armors and weapons or skills. But they didnt make us powrfull or progress us anyway.

If oyu cant grab the concept of enjoying events and fights or exploring or pvp ing, or showing off your awesome (hard earned) armors and weapons, then i suggest you find another game.

Thats the stupidest comment ive ever heard about an MMO. And yes this is an MMO not GW1, hence how its blew GW1 sales out of the sky.
You think a million MMO players are gonna be happy when they’ve got the best stats their character can have (very easy to get) and theres no further point to progress their character?

Im not saying it has to give an advantage, but something such as a WvW rank which displays on your name could be the grind. Such as Stormbluff Isle Invader/Defender (rank 1), Stormbluff Isle Aggressor/Protector (rank 2) etc etc

This should be a mega grind though, like a year to hit max rank for the average/high player. We MMO players need something to aim for, or the interest fades and youll end up with a 4 server GW1

If you want progress at lvl 80 → tPvP

A World PvP ranking system is bogus, cause WvW it’s always a team effort. A player on its own is pointless.

Salix Babylonica (Necro), Tharnath (Guardian), N Faculty (Mesmer),
Occam Pi (Ele), Acaena Elongata (Warrior), Finja Salversdotir (Ranger),
Bytestream (Engineer), Vim Whitespace (Thief)

This is true, but you have to remember in WvW you do need a leader sometimes, you always need at least 1 person telling others what to do (I say at least, of course there could be many).

Problems would arise in PUGs in WvW. People could be asking “we need 1 more, must be rank > 12”.

So yoou find : Grind more fun then more centent and stuff to do?
You seriously rushed trough the game without having fun?

BEsides….he was talking abaut stuff that gets him progressed….a title wont mean progress. A weapon skin wont mean progress….if you want something like that its alredy in….so i cant understand you. Thats the whole reson i thout you want something that makes you kittenop only becouse you can no life unlike others……

Try getting rank 70 in pvp rank. Or lega weapons. Or just reroll a class.
Getting dungeon armors also takes time….If you say you did all….thank i suggest seriously go work.

I agree completely. GW2 NEEDS end game progression in various ways. This is ESSENTIAL. A must.

The game has both endgame and grinding. The majority of players won’t have accomplished everything that can be accomplished by the time devs will hit us with a new expansion. At least that is what happend in GW1.

That being said, I agree with the OP about the lack of character progress and recognition. WvWvW is fun, but it has no purpose toward character progression or even for your guild and server. What happens when you win a game? Nothing. You play for an entire week to defeat your enemies and in the end you have a popup saying your team won.

The same can be said for casual sPvP once you have reached rank 80. In addition to that, all battlegrounds have the same mechanics, just different maps.

How could devs fix this? I can think about a couple of things they could do:

1) Improve the achievement system making it comparable to those they have in Rift and WoW. Give rewards for the most difficult achievements.

2) Make 2 WvWvW ladders – one server-based and one player-based, and make them affect the PvE world. For instance, as somebody has already suggested, implement statues in Lion’s Arch of the best players and a cross-server monument celebrating the top server.

These two simple things, that can be implemented quickly, will boost the game’s longevity and make players feel like they are fighting to achieve something rather than just zerging to kill time.
