Cancel Action Hotkey
I think it’s a good idea. I usually get around the confusing/targeting mistake by mapping the stow weapon toggle to something convenient. It will interrupt your auto-attack. Besides I think some of my characters look cool when they’re walking with their weapons out during an escort

This would be a wonderful addition. The amount of time it takes to reach the escape key is absurd compared to a map-able key.
the only temporary solution i have (which isnt great at all) is dodge… it cancels anything. Bad if you have no endurance left…
And yes agree, please do have cancel action key, or the ability remap the menu key, so the esc will by default a cancel key.
That would be useful, if for no other reason than to split it from the detarget function.
Actually, if I were to play this game competitively, I cannot imagine doing so without a cancel action hotkey.
If one was not implemented, I would resort to 3rd party software (such as a blackwidow keyboard macro, or Microsoft keyboard reconfiguration) to relocate the position of the ‘escape key’ to a more accessible position.
The thought of that is ridiculous, but the advantages gained by doing so are numerous/significant to not do so.
i want a cancel action button that does not include clearing my target, canceling auto-run, closing a window, or opening the escape menu
i think i suggested this a while ago too. ESC has way too many functions, separating them into different hotkeys is pretty much nessecairy
The sheathe weapons works as a cancel. I just bound it to a convenient key.
At the very least, remove the menu function from the ESC key. Even if you leave the 20 other game play functions all assigned to the ESC key without any way of reassigning them to another key, much less 20 different keys, please move the menu function.
