Candidate Trial Tiers Suggestion
Completely agree. I’ve done Gnashblade Tiers 1/2 and Kiel Tier 1 and for some reason can’t complete Kiel Tier 2 (Tier 1 keeps repeating). sigh
The decisions to choose the tiers are really confusing.
When you’re on rang 2 you can:
go 1 tier up (rang 3)
keep (rang 2)
go 1 tier down (rang 1)
When you’re rang 3 or higher you can:
go 1 tier up (rang 4)
keep (rang 3)
go 1 tier down (rang 2)
go 2 tiers down (rang 1)
The big problem is you can’t get the achievement points for tiers 1/2 if you don’t choose correctly.
Let me elaborate…
I started with Gnashblade and completed tier 1. I re-ran the trial and was prompted to either: (a) “bring it up a notch”, or (b) “stay where I am” (not the exact wording). Two options with the somewhat obvious option for tier 2 being “bring it up a notch”. So, knowing I had to complete tier 2 to get the achievement points, I chose “bring it up a notch”. With tiers 1 and 2 completed for Gnashblade, I was able to get the achievement points for those 2 tiers.
I then moved on to try to complete tiers 1 and 2 for Kiel. When entering the instance, I was prompted with three options. Not knowing exactly which option was tier 1, I chose the middle option figuring it would be the starting tier. Unfortunately, it was tier 2. The real problem is this; by starting the candidate trials at tier 2, I am now permanently unable to complete tier 1 and will not be able to get the achievement points for tiers 1 and 2.
This is a horrible design decision in my opinion. This prevents players from completing tiers 1 and 2 just because they selected an incorrect option in a rather confusing interface. Why prevent someone from completing the tiers out of order? This makes zero sense.

Update: I went back in and restarted the Kiel instance at tier 1, completed tier 1 and proceeded to tier 2. I completed tier 2 and got the achievement. So that’s the trick folks, in case anyone is following this thread.
If you beat Tier 2 first, you get the first half of the achievement, but must do Tier 2 again to complete Direct Support.
There’s no trick involved…
If you’re talking about what option you started with, you can re-pick after each completion or fail, regardless of what tier you’re on.
