I would like to see a limit on bad luck with RNG…

For example give everyone a guaranteed 100% exotic or better drop every 50 hours played. Ideally the way it would work would be a ingame bar that fills up with time played, must be moving/in combat to accumulate time. If before the 50 hours played a exotic drops then the bar resets and starts to fill again, you just got lucky. No exotic drop by 50 hours played, automatic exotic drop.

What this would be is a hard cap on how unlucky any individual player can be, well still allowing players to be lucky with drops.

Currently 1 player could have 6 exotic drops in 100 hours play, that player is very happy and loves GW2.

Another, can player 1,000 hours and get 0 exotic drops, that player is very, very unhappy and hates GW2, calls it KITTEN and gives up playing permanently.

Haha, 1600 hours on one character, only ever got a couple of drops worth just over 1 gold, that’s RNG for you.

Zero exotic drops, nothing of any worth ever.

My (What I would call a good drop) is usually worth up to 30 silver.

RNG some people get everything, some people get nothing.

Jumping puzzles, love them or hate them, I hate them. Thread killer.

Do 3 dungeons paths.
Have an exotic drop every day.

Woohoow.

Guaranteed ways to get exotics exit on many places. What you ask for is the same system. Would that improve the game in any way?

Not been really big into dungeons, been a Ranger since beta and they weren’t welcome back in the early days, and the pet REALLY grinds my gears in dungeons.

Pets are really embarrassing when they go off and do something really stupid, which is always.

I feel like this is one of the worst ideas I’ve read. It’s RNG for a reason . . . that R stands for “random”. If you play for 50 hours in a day for several days in a row and just do non-stop champs, dungeons, and the like and you don’t see a single exotic at level 80, then that’s not the game’s fault. You must have some realy bad personal karma – real life karam, lol.

Also, if a player leaves a game because they can’t get a drop they want, then that player never should have been in that game. I went from release of WoW to seven months in to Pandaria without a single Legendary weapon, five max-level characters and one of each class all the way through. I stopped playing because Blizzard is kittened and is now run by an evil company with not true insight into what their players want . . . not because I didn’t get my shiny weapon.

Not the same at all. Are you telling me when you get a drop worth 10g, 20g or more it does not give you a good feeling? Especially as you were not expecting it? When you run dungeons, farm badges of honour you get what you get no luck involved, everyone is on the same footing.

@LeeroyNimoy.1864

So since GW2 came out you have zero sympathy with the 1,000’s upon 1,000’s of threads saying loot is rubbish, I never get any drops? Also, in those threads you ALWAYS get players saying they are quitting because loot/rng/drops is appallingly awful.

Thousands upon thousands of players have quit GW2 because of extreme bad luck and no drops. If there was a hard cap on bad luck, many would be still playing…

This is actually the first thread I’ve seen with this topic, but I don’t doubt they’re out there. I have zero sympathy for someone who leave a game solely based on the drop rate, it sucks that people aren’t getting things, but I haven’t seen that happen. Myself and my friends see drops like crazy, and I’ve never seen anyone in the guild I’m in (of over 470 people) complain of never seeing drops.

If there are people that just aren’t seeing the drops, I would ask what they’re Luck is at first. Then I would ask what content they’re running and expecting to see said drops. Then, if after all that, I feel like they should sufficiently be seeing some drops, we would need to discuss the overall drop rate of some of the items/qualities. So I suppose that means my sympathy is conditional; if you’ve done everything you can to get the right drops and still aren’t getting it and the drop rate is supposed to be good, then fine, I hate that for you. Still not a reason to leave the game, in my opinion – it just feels petty.

On a personal note, I play a game for story. I play MMOs for the social experience of playing games with my friends that are several states away. If I can’t get some gear from drops, then so be it. If the overal mechanics are sound (or different enough from the standard WoW clones) and the basic experience is fun for me and mine, then I’ll play the game until they ruin it or something better comes along.

Do up to 7 dungeon runs x day (Different dungeons and different paths) Get max 2 rares worth no more than 25s.
Spent 2 hours farming champions in Frostgorge..on over 30 boxes I got 1 rare. Which are those guaranteed ways to get exotics?
