Cape and Mount!
No!
/15 chars and some more
Agree with both, especially the capes.
I’d love to walk around with my plate armor and a cape!
I’d also add hoods to this thread. I think we should have cape/hoods that we can hide/show. New back items!
Capes/cloaks sure, and for mounts.. my answer will always be no.
We should also have:
Elves
R(AIDS)
Pandas
Gear Check
Recount
and ****loads of quests requiring us to go kill/find X amounts of items/npcs and go/bring it back to the guy who gave you the quest.
and Death Knights
and trinity
Forgot a few lol

haha this is one of those painful ‘lets make GW2 into WoW posts’. I do endorse capes. If clipping issues can be resolved I think most people would like the cosmetic option of wearing one.
However mounts will never happen. Map travel is an alternative system to mounts and realistically even using them in the capitals is pointless. The only time I could see them being implemented is if Anet introduced an endgame PvE zone with no/few WPs (to increase the risk and difficulty factor of traversing it) which would permit mounts to be used (with maybe a 20% speed boost) to help get about there.
Realistically though I just don’t see them ever happening

Why do you need mounts? There are plenty of waypoints. That’s what they are there for.
Capes would be nice but I’m open to adding more armor looks and types any day.
No mounts. Never. This isn’t WoW.
:)
Outside of the slimmest of chances, Mounts will never happen.
The game was designed without mounts in mind.
They would a) add load on servers, b) hurt the experience as the maps are made to be traveled on foot, c) be an unhelpful addition due to WayPoints.
This has been discussed many times. The answer from the Devs is “No”. :P
EDIT:
Capes are also a no, because the Devs find Charr tails are a pain to design around.
There’s no clear answer to whether or not this will change in the future.
Lv80s: Guard, Thief, Necro. Renewed my Altaholic’s card on the HoT Hype-Train. Choo choo~
Capes: If clipping does not occur, i don’t see why there shouldn’t be any. GW1 had Guild capes, which i like. It give that extra “we are a guild” feeling. It’s fine by me!
Mounts: Yes and No, here’s why:
No, Mounts are gonna be to big, and are simply not logical. We have waypoints, why would we need mounts, lorewise and mechanic wise?
Yes, One of the best things this MMO has is it’s amazing graphics. It’s such a shame we use waypoints to go across this beautifull world. Instead, Mounts would be “forcing” you to enjoy the scenerie a little more as you travel.
I would have preferred mounts to waypoints. One central waypoint per zone would have been better imo. Then travel further with mounts. HOWEVER, only when the mounts don’t get any insane speed buffs, flying capabilities and more OP stuff.
Fact is, it’s hard to place in GW2, and i’m quite sure it’s not gonna happen.
Instead, i take time to walk places and avoid using waypoints whenever i can.
The capes would be nice, but apparently it’s a bit of a nightmare on the programming side (creating the necessary physics to enable for non-clipping naturally flowing cloth) so that’s why we don’t have them at present. Mounts… well GW has always been a mount-less game, adding mounts would come off as attempting to ape other games. So most counter arguments come down to not wanting to turn GW2 into WoW, you know once ANet gives us mounts before you know it…

Please, add capes. It makes everything look infinitely better. And for the ones being concerned about the Charr’s tail: look at WoW and how they solved that issue with the Draenei. Better that than nothing if you ask me. Also, I do not care two kittens about a little clipping if that means I can wear a cape/cloak.
Capes (as in GW1) that’d be cool. This was the best way to show off our guild emblem.
Mounts (as in WoW) that’d be dumb. No. There will never be mounts. The only “mounts” available are toys such as the broom/tunneling.
You write about capes and you put WoW pictures up face + palm
Should have used GW1 screen shots to show how easy it would be to port them to GW2

I have no opinion either way on capes. Mounts? You’ve got the broom and tunnelling thingy. There’s your mounts.
I don’t understand why people keep insisting on mounts being added. They are not needed. The developers didn’t want to make a cookie cutter MMORPG. Adding mounts would follow the cookie cutter template.
Yes, GW1 had capes and would make sense for GW2 to have them also. But, I like the back flag they have for guild emblems more than the capes from GW1.

Yes, I wouldn’t mind back flag if only I wasn’t required to transmute it onto my ascended backpack. If only it was and “additionnal” option to show or hide the guild back flag, it would make more sense.
Capes isnt a bad idea at all and has my vote altho i always turned the option off to show em but thats personal favor but please no mounts, hence why there are many waypoints u can use to travel fast over maps

Don’t argue with idiots, they pull you down their level and own you with experience.
Nope. These threads have been done to death. No capes. No Mounts. Ever.
Thank god.

they have stated the reasons behind no capes (yet) because they struggle to make them work with char models.
As for mounts, I didn’t like they way they ruined WoW (esp flying mounts – omg that was terrible, they were totally immersion sucking devices that ruined it. No wonder for the next WoW patch they aren’t going to let you fly until a patch months after the release. They (WoW) realise the problem and here are people wanting them in GW2. no, no, NO.
I’m glad to see a lot of people not wanting them. It makes me feel like this community understands the issue.
Capes are ugly. Capes are stupid. I hate capes.
Mounts are also stupid.
No need for mount with races like charrs but I can see capes going in the back piece accessory or in a new type altogether
I think both ideas are good. Idk why people are so against mounts. I don’t really want them so I can cover the map super quickly I just think they are cool. I would vote for them even if there wasn’t even an increase in movement.
Not for mounts, they’d be pointless. Capes, im 110% for, you can’t say clipping issues is the reason they don’t do it, look at all the clipping on normal armor and skins. If they’re looking into making a charr friendly cape maybe they can re-do the helmets for the charr to.
Have u seen a whale turn in GW2? Take a look at it. THATS what it would look like when a Mount turn… not pretty eh?
No, mounts in GW2 thanks.
ok i’m gonna try to use some simple logic here so bare with me….
Capes- GW2 obviously liked the idea of being able to personalize your look to show off your guild. So what they did was instituded their own ‘system of capes" and they’re called Guild Armors, Guild Backpacks, and Guild weapons to show off your guild emblem. Then to ‘put a face with a name’ you get to rock your Guild Tag right above your head. So the ‘guild cape system’ does exist for all intents and purposes, minus a flowing curtain hanging from your back which would be very much in conflict with their SLOTTED back pieces, as capes were not a stat-bearing piece of gear.
Mounts-This is just rediculous and personally i’m tired of hearing all the mount fanboys talking about how epic flying on a pet griffon would be. With that said, let’s elaborate on why they have NO place in GW2. GW2 IS NOT AN OPEN WORLD!!! It consists of of INSTANCED zones which would render flying mounts basically usless (unless your “epic mount” is just gonna fly/run from one portal to another to enter the next zone. lol O.o Another real kicker is that GW2 is BASED on community play (let’s not have that debate here plz) and players on mounts running around to nodes i guess (or wth ever you think you’d have a reason for one would be) would completely bypass the DEs and other content where YOUR FELLOW PEERS just might need some help to complete. It would also take away from the majesty of the beautiful world the Devs have designed for us all to explore. WPs are VERY functional in this aspect in that you HAVE to eplore the world in order to unlock them for faster travels later, once activated. Another point is that mounts are personal and discourage partying up for the open world content. Last, but not least, (although there are plenty of other reasons) they clash with GW lore of Asuran Portals and the idea of Tyrian technology that allows instintaneous travel from one location to another. Okay, that wasn’t last…GW2 was touted to be the ‘break the mold’ MMO to forge its own destiny, and taking a completely useless and impractical implementation of one of their biggest rivals would lead a lot of people (especially GW1 veterans) to seriously question Anets future intentions of being its own game and following the tradition of its forefather of innovation and being the counterculture to the humdrum systems implemented in every other MMO.
Summary- “Capes” is just a nastalgic word that truely means nothing and GW implemented their own system of REPRESENTING your guild in an even more in depth and practical manner. “Mounts” are silly and serve no roll, purpose, or reason for existance in GW at all, period. If you want a pet creature to call your own, make a ranger and give your ‘mount’ lol a unique name.
*Devs, feel free to copy/paste this wherever you’d like! It’ll save you a few minutes I’m sure. : D

That’s a pretty short-sighted point of view if you ask me. God forbid people actually liking that “piece of cloth”. I for one think they look incredible. I do not care the slightest of representing my guild, I just think that they look great. It’s been 1,5 years for GW2. I’m quite disappointed how little has been achieved in the 2nd half of that 1,5 yrs. In case you all forgot: check out the loading screen art. It always contains a character with a cape, because it simply looks great, and Anet knows it.
