Capes!
Some of the back items have no skin, so that would be awesome. Also scarves would be nice

Indeed. the possibilities are numerous!
yep, makes perfect sense… can already transmute between back items, so why not give us guild capes and other capes for visual, cosmetic purposes

I think ANet was having some technical issues with capes, but +1 from me in anycase.
Guild-Wars2.info: Why did you decide to implement guild back packs instead of capes like we saw in the original Guild Wars?
Izzy: After 250 years, guild fashion has had to adapt and change, especially as more diverse races started working together. The charr, for example, are not a big fan of the capes as they get in the way when running on all fours. The asura have calculated that capes increase the chance of fumbling in combat by 34.76819011% and thus avoid them at all costs.

I think the way capes worked in GW1 won’t work too well in GW2. The race models are probably what makes it difficult. Capes were essentially sprites that could flow as you move, but I imagine they’d clip quite a bit on some of GW2’s races.
Basically they made up some lore to cover for not wanting to.
Nice move.
I still want capes, regardless. Even if there’s clipping and a Charr’s tail goes completely through the thing. It’s not like this will be the first game to have clipping issues, and the things can be toggled off if you don’t like it.
Capes/Linen cloth like on the arc troopers of star wars >.>, scarfs/hoodies that go over helmets, banners(not war summons but banners like a guild banner or something) There can be so many things done to make your character look cooler why leave them out QQ.
Was pretty sure I read some where that they were in the game originally but had major clipping issues so removed them. my opinion but id say they then added the back packs to replace them as it was a quick and easy fix. Given im sure it has been moved to the bottom of the todo list or taken off completely
Nothing better than a good cape. I’d wear one in real life if it was socially acceptable. lol

The only problem is that some armor, like Norn t3 heavy cultural armor, already has a cape built in. I do agree that there needs to be a wider selection of back items though, but I’m sure that’s something Anet will expand upon in the future.

They first need to solve the issue of the only decent back items being limited to fractals (quivers look much better than those insanely overlarge backpacks).

So I was talking with guildies the other day and capes came up. I know there are lots of clipping issues with many of the races, Charr specifically, and that one type of cape wouldn’t work for everyone. All the races other than Charr could share a similar cape style attached to a point on each shoulder, but the Charr could have a unique cape that hangs from one shoulder (like from Assassin’s Creed). I know it wouldn’t solve all the issues preventing the capes from being in the game right now but it would be really cool to see.
I already posted about a month ago in support, but capes warrant a second post. My human char needs a cape! Needs.

There is no impossible in game programming.
There are lazyness and broken designs.
