So as an idea for a mini-game and a competive edge to Mop’s pokemon rip off, which is actually quite popular, I propose adding something with a bit more strategy and far less of a rip-off.

In Final Fantasy 8 there was an epic card game that played like tic-tac-toe meets magic the gathering. In FF9 there was another awesome card game in which the cards had four numbers/letters on them which represented their ‘power’ for each side of the card. Both card games where hella fun but the real kicker was in FF9 the cards actually leveled up their numbers as you used them. This meant that not only did you want to explore and try to find all the cards in the game, but you wanted to use your favorites over and over again in order to make them more powerful. It was quite amazing and lend itself to an extra 30 or so hours of gameplay for myself personally.

Now for guild wars 2, im not at all purposing that you rip these off like WoW has ripped off pokemon, Rather i’m suggesting that you take this idea, of a tradeable card game, akin to Magic the Gathering, or the Card games in FF8 and FF9, and the idea that your cards can level up as you use them; and Create a meta-game within Gw2 innovating these ideas and useing Guild Wars 2 lore/artwork to make it work.

I know this idea is far-fetch’d … however i think if done correctly(ie: by a-net) it would be an awesome addition to the game, and a wonderful way to spend time in gw2 without doing the typical mmo stuff. Anyways I’d love some feedback on this idea from anyone who reads it.. hopefully constructive or positive feedback.

*Also if i’ve said anything in this post that is against the forum rules or regulations I apoligize in advance, and please dont ban me.

This would be awesome. Not only would Anet make more money from selling items related to the mini-game, but it would also benefit the all around concept of bringing the environment alive. I think there’s a substantial effect with how people plug into the game versus going about their real lives. So to then establish this same effect in the game itself, that would only drive more emphasis on the beauty of the design.

EQ2 has a card game called Legends of Norrath, and I must admit that I had a great time playing it. I think it’d be awesome to see something like that in GW2 way down the line.

They’re already planning Polymock. It’s mentioned in game.

Polymock was essentially the same as the pet-battle system that WoW currently has…
Only Guild Wars had it back in 2007.

Wait what?! I’ve heard nothing of this.. polymock..
Though that sounds interesting, I think I’d like the card battle system better, as it feels less like a rip-off.
Sorry if im useing that term so freely, blatent rip-offs are just lame imo. Innovation and Improvments on existing things on the other hand I’m okay with.
I’ll need more info on Polymock before i judge.

I’d rather they put dota style maps and gameplay into the game then a card game.
That or put in a boardgame where your player also fights and leads armys.
The card games are stale now, something fresh is needed.
