I’ll get straight to the point. Champions need unique drops like unique skins, weapons, armor, crafting materials, etc.. As it stands, there are Champions, Dynamic Events, or Group Event monsters who no one bothers to care about like the ones in Cursed Shore which are too far away from other DEs or deserted maps in low level areas that no one goes to anymore. How often does the mob at Cathedral of Verdance gets killed compared to other temples? How often do players still swim under water to get into Whisper Bogs to kill that monster that hasn’t been touched in months?

In order to avoid the ghost town effect for maps and certain areas of maps, there needs to be incentive to go there. GW2 players need to know that it’s a good idea to go back to some osbcure part of the world Wychmire Swamp to hunt a Veteran or Champion there because they have a 1% chance of dropping a unique item that no other monsters drop. Isn’t this an obvious tradition from past MMOs that alured MMORPG gamers?

When you look into an abyss, the abyss also looks into you.

I agree with you on that, even for beginners we should at least get a low level rare loot from these “champions” that we kill during an event. Beginning levels are the main attraction for a new gamer in GW2 so why not stimulate the experience more by adding these “unique” drops or new skins at least by killing these champions. I hope ANet look into this matter, we can go back to low level zones, why not balance out the drops as well. i.e. level 80 going to level 5 zones to help friend. killed a champion, gets a weapon that fits his/her level. Everyone should be rewarded with “cool” looking weapons or armors, not just high level people.

Success is my only option, failure is not.

Agree. Champions drop less loot than trash mobs – this just doesn’t sit well with me.

There should be something unique you get from a champion, whether its armour, weapons or T6 mats… maybe liquid karma or mystic coins? There are many possibilities.

Champions go largely untouched because there is no reward for fighting them.

80 Necro (5), 80 Guard (4), 80 Mesmer (3)
80 Ranger (3), 80 Warrior (3), 80 Thief (3)
80 Ele (2), 80 Engi (3), 80 Rev (2)

Agreed 100%, champions are often far to much effort compared to final gain. In Final Fantasy 11 they have notorious monsters which are sort of like champions or veterans and pretty much all of them have a unique drop item that ranges from 100% drop rate upto very low rates for the higer lvl ones in out of the way areas, perhaps do the same sort of thing only reverse the percentages so the ones in out of the way areas have a higher chance ofdropping a unique skin compared to the others who will have a varying scale based on zone and frequency the champion/vet is attacked/defeated that day successfully?
I used skin as i think that would be more interesting than a random weapon/armour piece not everyone would see a use for(some players still dont understand you can use transmution stones to switch looks easily) plus it’d keep the drop from becoming vendor/trading post trash since the skin would be soulbound(on use) and thus truely unique once equipped.

I’ve said this same thing repeatedly in various map chats, without a single dissenter.
These skins need to be UNIQUE though…as in freshly made brand new skins.

I’ve also said that the skins for the dungeouns in the game should be obtainable without setting foot in the dungeouns (plenty of people hate them). Have these skins drop from champions in the lands the dungeouns can be found. These skins should have a higher percentage drop than the totally unique ones…and however, I reiterate that the skins should be only skins, not the actual items.

I can’t articulate what a good idea I think this is. Running new alts through he low level areas is like playing in post-apocalyptic Tyria as things stand. This would also help to balance some of the lackluster skin problems that weapons like maces and pistols suffer from. How cool would it be to get a skin that turns the head of your mace into an air elemental?
