Role a new character? What if you have a main character who you have spent hundreds of gold and hours on but want to change its race? Rolling a new character is basically starting from the beginning again, we should be able to make that choice of changing race for appearance reasons without having to start again
Ps I am someone who needs this since I have played for 1335hours over the past 486 days and does not have much time to be leveling again, plus leveling is boring and not rewarding. There are other factors like map completion and ascended gears like trinkets so just saying role another character is just…looking at it from one simple minded view. I do understand there will be tweaks needed for personal story but I would rather do that than start again

And it is not like your personal story effects the living story, we all do the same thing so i really do not see any reason for not having race change

If you’ve been playing a character for hundreds of hours, then at what point did you decide that you hated its race?

I was waiting for new amour skins thinking i would like the later released ones or I thought I would get use to how I looked

If they cannot make race change then I won’t mind them making the everlasting tonics really everlasting and fight-able

I don’t believe they will ever do a race change because of the Personal Story aspect. But I have always wondered if you could just change race and your Personal Story resets to the beginning of the Story for the new race. You would only start getting rewards when you reached the stage you were at with your original character to stop people abusing this system. It seems like a fairly simple idea to implement tbh though I’m sure its more complicated in reality.

Is it only me? Or am I the only one that have been very angry of myself that I didn’t create a sylvari instead of a human? Or a norn instead of a asuran, etc. when you’re in lvl 80 will full gear and so on.

I’ve been thinking and it would be create with a new, amazing service tool in gemstore that give you the possibility to change your race of your character ones (single-use).

I think… the Total Makeover Kit isn’t all, we’ve to improve it and also make it more expensive ofcourse to add the oppertunity to change your race.
This would be great and also better for the players and also for ArenaNet.

What happends with the gear?
- My thought about this would be that you ofcourse still have your normal gear couse it doesnt matter with exotic gear etc which race you’re expect the cultural gear.

What happends with the cultural gear?
- Ofc you’ll still have them but they will be transmuted automaticlly to your new race cultural gear with means that example; You’re an asura before using the kit with full heavy cultural t3 gear. You change your race to human and get the awesome heavy human t3 gear.

What happends with the weapons?
- In this case, nothing special either. You’ll still have them and will still be able to use them because it’s only the race that will change, not the profession.

So, please. Give me some tip and also please comment with new ideas and also how we can improve this suggestion.

And if this suggestion wont happend. Maybe if we now buy this kit and use it on my lvl 80 character. I’ll delete the character and get X Tome of Knowledge based on my other character lvl.
So, I use the kit on my lvl 80 and I’ll get a mail with 80 Tome of Knowledge for my account which I can be able to use on my new character?

This is the 10000th post about this subject… I reallyhope that they will make it happen !

And maybe its a problem about the Living Story.
I would make it like this, 3 suggestions.

1. While you use the kit, in the end you’ve to decide if you want to reset the living story from the race you just changed to, maybe it’s hard to create but it was a suggestion.
2. Remove the whole living story in the future for that character.
3. Still stay on your living story with your new professions even if you’re an asuran in the human story. Would be kinda epic and ppl would maybe not care that much, depends on your focus in the game.

Roll a new character and get over it.

I promise you’d feel like changing regardless of your initial choice.

Now imagine if this was the kind of MMO where you get stuck with 1 weapon type, 1 play style and can’t change your appearance or hair what so ever.

At least in GW2 you can easily change it a lot after 80, your play style and it’s purpose, weapons you use and you’re not stuck with an armor/weapon skin just because it has better stats, and for some unic looks mix and match is pretty easy too.

Changing race is just an illusion of potential freshness, you’d get bored again quickly.
Can it be done? Of course, reset personal story and it’s pretty much done with no problems already.
Meanwhile Anet could sell these kits like the makeover ones so they’d make money instead of people paying for powerleveling.

Exactly, but I don’t require them to make this kits be able to buy forever. Just like 1-2 weeks would be enough!

Agree completely but the issue stands with the Personal Story. You cant just reset it because it gives alot of XP so that would just be pay for xp like…. I dunno but i would love this feature.

Use the gems you would spend on that kit and get a new char slot or create a new one if you have an open slot. You can get the Tomes of knowledge yourself so they don’t need to be included in any gimmick kit. This may have been suggested thousands of times but it has happened yet because it’s rediculous and silly. A-net isn’t in the business of fixing your personal mistakes based on preference/opinion. They’re in the business of making a game that is enjoyable and likable, which they have done even if a race change would make you happier. They’ve even given you a simple path to completely remaking your toon and leveling it back to max easily, without just handing it to you on a silver-platter in the gem store. Your idea is very complex and don’t happen. Its even sillier to suggest that they would create this elaborate item and only put it in the gem store as if created to cater to one person in the community. Lol.

No. Think even Anet themselves have made a reply on one of the many many previous posts on this and also said more or less no. Give it up. Make a new toon.

I know Anet keeps saying NO, but I truely would love this and so would mean other players.

I hate Norn, the looks the feel, the style at least (the lore is awesome) just dont like playing them, I didnt know this when I made my Norn guardian LONG time ago (day 1 of the game) 489days ago. I played it for over 1k hours (account over 4k hours).

And ATB I HATE IT, I 100% hate playing my norn guardian, I only play it b.c it is useful, I have ascended weapons, armor and trinkets, 77 AR and put alot of money and time into it.

Im at the point now where I would rather not play the game than to play my norn, it discuses me to look at it, Ive done 3 make over kits and some Hair kits and cant get it to look good to me.

I want a Asura guardian, I love the Heavy t3 look SO MUCH I love the movements they do… I love them, I made a 2nd warrior just to have t3 (even tho my 1st warrior has Sunrise lol).

Please Anet, just think about Race change

TL’DR: I hate Norn and want Asura more than anything, dont want to waste 489 days and 1k gold to make a new character.

For one I had all my character day 1, I made them to the BEST of my knowneldge at the time for the feel of the characters I had 10 characters made day one (a couple was for the misses to play for fun). So I wanted to make sure I had 1 of each race (for the story and achievments) I didnt know at the time how much i would not like norn (charr the same HATE playing it, my ranger is only character not level 80 out of 14 characters b.c its a charr)

B.c Im hardcore about fractals and already put in 6 months of time b.c I found I dont like, But I went threw to use for fractals when it came out and guardians where useful, very useful at the time (no Main stream op warriors back then).

And personal history can be deleted and reset for all I care, I only care about Time played and armor/weapons/ar gained.

It is a women I hate everything about norn looks and feel, like you hate asura, Imagine you made a main character a asura… and later on knowning what you know now, how would you feel?

do you guys race change would ever be possible??? at least have a race change available at level 80. i want another warrior from a different race but dont want to level one. so im just curious if you think something like a race change would ever be possible. obviously bought with gems.

No cause each race has their own Personal Story. It would make a time paradox that complicates things for the story. Just start a new character and play your way to lvl 80 like your last one.

It’s possible. Personal stories can be reset. Rewards from PS can be removed. Concerning race change, a-net has only ever said that they “have no plans at this time”. That was said over a year ago and it in no way excludes the possibility.

well restrictions can be there. for example finish your personal story and be level 80.

and dont forget to kiss your souldbound cultural t3 goodbye while you’re at it. i dont see how this is practical from many standpoints and, therefore, will most likely never be implemented. create new char, use scroll of knowledge, then grab 60 tomes of knowledge and you’re there…takes all of 2 mins to get to lvl 80, provided you have a bit of glory and some gold at your disposal and that you have a 1 yr old char but that seems like a fair amount of requirements for instant lvl 80 anyway imo. good luck

Better yet, I wish games would get away from everyone has to walk the same speed. When there’s as big a difference in height as the Norn and Charr they really should have sped up their movement motions. It is the only reason why I can’t stand playing charr/norns. They just move to slow, and the charr animation is a joke at that speed. They seem to defy gravity.

Unfortunately, I agree that they should never do a race change because of the personal story. It sorta cements your character as that race since the story chain starts in the tutorials (which you can’t get back to). I’m sorry you crafted a legendary for a character you hate.

Even if they do end up allowing you to change the race, it probably won’t be for years. So either get used to the norn and hold out for that or delete them and reroll.

Just the fact that they give things like Birthdays and everyone knows that the 1st character or 2 you make your not sure what you like. Then you reroll or go home. Kinda of a catch 22.

If you remove the personal story then nothing is holding it back.

It’s on the first page of Suggestions for heaven’s sake. Why start yet another thread on this when there’s already three active threads on this subject.

I’m calling it now – this is a concerted spam effort by a minority of people who refuse to take “no” for an answer, even when that “no” has come from the devs themselves. I’m going to start reporting these daily race change spam threads I think.

Does anyone have a updated answer of Anet on this topic because it has been a while since they gave their opinion on this.
