This suggestion of course assumes that the GW2 Extended Experience for iOS is still in development (I hope it is!).

In addition to the features the devs have already described for this app, it would be nice if they included a character overview screen. This would be like the in-game hero screen, but we’d be able to access all of our characters’ info – stats, armors, weapons, etc.

This would be incredibly useful for altoholics (like myself) who need to keep track of all our characters’ gear stats so that we know which armor/weapon drops to salvage/sell or save for another character. If we could view and keep track of that information on the iPad while we’re playing the game, it would be a big help. I know a lot of altoholics use spreadsheets to track all that stuff. I personally use an app that records athletic stats and adapted it to keep track of GW2 stats. But a GW2-dedicated app that serves this purpose would be infinitely better.

I have done my best to stay up-to-date with the Extended Experience app. Colin Johanson posted in a previous post:

This project was delayed in favor of having the specific folks required to build it skill-set wise working on solidifying the core of the game. You’ll hear more about our ecosystem in the future, but we’re not actively working on this project, in favor of making sure the core game itself is as fun and rewarding as possible.

Edited to add: We’ll discuss what sort of projects we’re doing instead in more detail in the blog post later this week, and even in more detail as the Jan/Feb/March releases get closer.

I know that Anet has had a few issues with getting the proper team working on this. I believe I remember hearing somewhere that the lead developer of this app was let go for some reason. Not too sure on that one. I have been looking forward to this since 2010 and still look forward to it.

Anet is working extremely hard on this and it makes me happy that they want to make the best quality product before it goes on the market and hits the fan. There are a lot of haters out there trying to whine about how this game should have had all the kinks worked out before it was released, but I’m so happy they let it out finally. We found out they were developing the game for years before they finally started showing the official developments. Unfortunately, they had to put the game out to let thousands, if not millions, of players find all the kinks so they could iron them out.

Fortunately, they are looking for new employees to help with the development of mobile apps. This means that there is definitely progress! It would be nice to have a companion app to do all of your stuff on the side. I think we’ll just have to see what happens.
