Delete, re-roll. Race change makes absolutely no sense.

Agree. The personal story lines are too different. You want to play a charr, then restart as a charr.

Agree if you can’t figure out by level 10 you don’t like a race then well I am sorry. Delete and re-roll Charr. Race changes are ridiculous and un-needed.

With 5 (free) character slots, there really is NO reason to ask for a race change. It’s just ridiculous and the amount of work required to implement would be much better spent elsewhere, be it bug fixes, balancing, content, etc…

Personal stories can obviously be modified. If you choose option 1 has a Sylvari, autoassign option 1 for Charr when racechanging. etc.

I think the fact that you think race changes are un-needed is ridiculous.. People sometimes just want to play a different race after a while, those are the social players who focus a lot on customization.

(And hence being a social player tends to mean you’re not up for completely rerolling and re-leveling a character)

It doesn’t affect anyone at all either if you racechange from a Norn to a Charr. It just makes the player happy with their choice and gives Arenanet money. And considering we’re still playing this game I think Arenanet deserves, and can use that money.

I don’t think this is needed, but also the people using the storyline as an argument…the only part that is affected by your race choice is pre-orders arc.

You can argue all day about it but it won’t change anything. Thread will get locked. :P

Well we are each entitled to our own opinion, although where Anet can make money off it it also cost money to do this as previously stated by Idolicious.6091. Also take into consideration that like Idolicious.6091 stated,

You have 5 character slots and 5 choices, Choices that affect the way you play. So I guess if your inclined to not be happy with your choice after 30 levels than it is your choice to either delete and make a new character race or keep him.

I saw a charr in the Dredge gear with his tail on fire the same gear my norn warrior has. I really want it for my charr now. Although I guess if I want it I have to do the grind with my chaar.

If we allowed race changes than that would take away form people spending time experiencing the different races Personal story’s and we would have people at 80 decided one day that they want to play a Human over a charr. A. Net has put a lot of time and effort into designing the personal story lines and a lot of money, that would all be for not. If you need more examples of that exact thing happening ask Most of the people that play World of Warcraft. I knew people that never made a goblin or Worgan, or Panda and waited till they offered the race change and then changed one of their max level toons to the race.

Most companies that do this option only really care about the money coming in and not the players, or giving the players the full attention. So far A.Net has done a spectacular job in listing to the player base and giving what they want. This race changes even with your idea of just converting said Line to said line still doesn’t show you what happen or how you got there, as each race differs. As a social player you figured you would respect the in depth story of how you got to where you are.

I know if there are enough demands, and if a company sees it as a way to make more money, then they will eventually do it. Unless it’s just not feasible budge-wise to do it. Something like it costs too much time and money to develop that function.

I’d love to be able to race change – as for those who argue that Anet has put alot of time and effort designing story lines and alot of money and all that would be for not, that’s stupid argument really. What they have put out we have already paid when buying the game. That’s the deal. It doesn’t matter if you only play 1 hour of the game, or 500 thousand hours, you still have paid the same amount , to them.

I also agree there are actually people who would love to play a new race, but not wanting to roll a new character. And how about those who want to play a new race, but same class? It will be redundant to use 5 slots devoted entirely to say, warriors of different races.
