Character Skill Progression
Dungeon Skills (available only in dungeons)
These skills would be based on dungeon completion achievements. The Guardian would gain access to new skills (examples provided below) based on dungeon achievements obtained (for example, completing story mode and all 3 exploration paths). Higher level dungeons would require all previous dungeons to be completed (e.g. to obtain the skill rewarded upon completing Twilight Arbor, player must first complete Ascalonian Catacombs and Caudecus’s Manor). Once unlocked, dungeon skill can be used in any dungeon.
Ascalonian Catacombs (complete story mode and all exploration paths)
- Signet of Pain (Signet) Passive – Improves critical chance; Active – Gain 6 stacks of might
Caudecus’s Manor (complete story mode and all exploration paths)
- Guardian’s Intervention (Meditation) – teleport to nearby targeted ally and absorb damage done to them for the duration of the effect (5s)
Twilight Arbor (complete story mode and all exploration paths)
- Healing Flames (Consecration) – Create a ring of fire that heals allies (5s)
Sorrow’s Embrace (complete story mode and all exploration paths)
- Symbol of Restoration (Consecration) – Consecrate the ground around you, blinding foes and reviving up to 3 allies (5s)
Citadel of Flame (complete story mode and all exploration paths)
- “Incoming!” (Shout) – Cast Shelter (3s) on yourself and nearby allies. When this effect ends, affected allies are healed.
Honor of the Waves (complete story mode and all exploration paths)
- Signet of Temperance (Signet) Passive – Improve boon duration; Active – Next skill has no recast timer
Crucible of Eternity (complete story mode and all exploration paths)
- Divine Intervention (Meditation) – Focus, making yourself invulnerable and healing yourself with every pulse (4s)
The Ruined City of Arah (complete story mode and all exploration paths)
- “Charge!” (Shout) – Grant stability (5s) and quickness (3s) to nearby allies
Fractals of the Mists (obtained once a player has completed X levels of difficulty)
- Curative Signet (Signet) Passive – Cures conditions from nearby allies every ten seconds; Active – Pull nearby foes to your targeted location
WvW Skills (available only in WvW)
These skills would be based on Realm Avenger tiered Achievements. Once completed, players would gain access to new class specific skills beneficial for WvW.
PvP Skills (available only in PvP)
These skills would be based on Slayer tiered Achievements. Once completed, players would gain access to new class specific skills beneficial for PvP.
Having not spent a lot of time in WvW or PvE, I wasn’t able to come up with ideas that would be beneficial without being too overpowered. I know the spells I identified for PvE/Dungeon areas might be over/underpowered, but they can obviously be swapped or tweaked, as needed.
What do you all think?

I like the idea of getting a new skill after completing all the paths in a dungeon.
