I’m sure it has been said, however could not find the thread in the forums so starting a new one…

I just find it very strange that character specific keybind were not implemented when the game came out because every character uses different keybinds unless your a clicker or use keybinds on the keyboard. I searched on the internet finding many people complaining about this trying to figure out either ways around it or wanting it implemented in the game.

There are ways around it already including two third party applications as followed; Razer Naga/ other brands of mouses and a free third party addon that could get you hacked by a keylogger. I have a (Razer Naga epic) spending hours and hours trying to wrap my mind around how the character specific binds/ macro applications work. Finding out that GW2 is just super touchy with third party addons allowing some products to work and others to epicly fail.

I really don’t want to change around my buttons every time I want to play another character, it really makes me unmotivated to try new classes and makes World of Warcraft almost shine brighter with all the customization that can be done. However everything else in this game besides a few tech issues blows WoW out of the water!

I’m all for it. Particularly for F1-4 which I rebind to be easier to access, and on some classes F1-4 have varying utility that I would rather rebind them for. For example on an Ele it makes sense to do F1-4, but on a Guardian, who spams F1 all the time if he’s Radiance specced, I’d rather have it on C. But that screws things up a little on my Ele, because I don’t go into Fire often enough to warrant that being so strangely placed.

Have a feeling you did not read the post through thoroughly. I have a Razor Naga epic mouse. I know that some mouses work better with the applications that they come with. The Razor Naga Epic’s third party app is unclear and has very little help from its customer service and the manual really does not explain much about macro use aka keybinds. Its either that or the mouse app is glitchy with the game. If anyone has a Razor Naga Epic mouse and knows how to work the macros pleeeeeeaaaaaassssseeeee tell me! <3!!!

Rebind as separate on the mouse. 1-4 as ele, 5-8 as something else etc for the time being. They don’t have macros or addons in game, though it would be useful to save templates and bindings. I saw another post here recently regarding that and how useful in gw1 it was.

I try to bind "shift+ M3, M4 and M5 with the macro tab however when I record just two buttons it turns into a huge list. For example, Shift(up), Shift(down), M5(up), M5(down) then usually (M5(up) and M5(down) is repeated another 15 times with a Shift(up) and Shift(down) at the end. When I bind those keys to the button layout some times the buttons don’t work and other times the M5 button works but not while holding shift down. Each time I record I get a different recording or similar so i’m confused. I may have missed something, however watched many videos and followed the manuals to the word.

The only thing I want to bind is the upper action bar with the F1-4 because it has to be changed every time I change characters.

I am sure the application is linked to GW2, I found the game in the computer options under profile and linked GW2.exe to my characters profile. There is also many options in how you want the buttons to react, like if you want the move to be pressed repeatedly or a single time. I tried all the combos of these button actions and came out with some interesting results but nothing I was going for.

This would be pretty good indeed.

So only players who can afford expensive peripherals would have this feature?

And you’re assuming the player wants it on their mouse.

Players might not have the know-how to set up a 3rd party app. But if the option were in the interface options, it would be better for them.

Pretty much my point. everyone should have the option of having character specific keybinds, a $100 dollar mouse is not in everyone’s budget. A game should not require third party apps for functionality. In WoW they don’t support addons however it adds a lot of character to the game however also a bunch of technical issues. I feel that Anet dose not allow third party apps for that cause which is great because it puts everyone on a level playing field more or less.

I would love if there was something like a Base Setup, that would be the basic keys for your account, and then the ability to customize each one per character. This would cut down on the having to reassign each setup for every single character, and allow for classes with less active profession mechanics (Thief F1/Necro F1 as opposed to Mesmer F1-4/Elementalist F1-4) to have their keys be useful instead of having them bound to F2-4 doing absolutely nothing.

Almost wanting to count down till they make this change because I know its inevitable. Unless they just enjoy burning off our antenna with magnifying glasses hehe ;p.
