We already have domestic pigs. Why not chickens under either the “bird of prey” or Moa family? Their small size doesn’t impart any kind of advantage considering ravens, hawks, etc are in fact, smaller.
As for it being a bit too “Silly” go charm a domestic pig and read the description. Another mundane pet wont hurt anything.

Terrestrial type. Moa family or similar skills would probably suit it best.

I love this suggestion! I would love to have a chicken for a ranger pet.

I like that. They could also add rabbits, raccoon, armadillos, and other animals seen out and about across the land. And if they started an insect group that would give several other choices.

yea and female rangers should be able to have cute boys for pets too!
