People WILL start using Chinese in chat, which would be completely unreadable to the vast majority of the players and could lead to quite a bit of annoyance from both sides (just try to type something in German, French or Spanish (or even languages not supported at all on any marked servers) on a non-marked server and see what happens).

The fact that the language would be supported would most likely mean even more people would type it in chat, and that would end up with issues such as I already explained.

Which is also why they are releasing the whole game in China sometime in the future.

I really like this game
but there has a small problem when I want to talk to my friends
there has many chinese words can’t display
it’s very bother me to express my idea to my friends
so,I think GW2 has Chinese interface will become more complete

gotta +1 for this tbh, gonna bring different types of people into the game so that people can experience a bit of every culture and everything. Being fluently bilingual in Chinese and English, I’m probably not going to use it, but I do understand how frustrating it is to play a game when you don’t understand everything that’s going on in terms of the lore and story, especially when it comes down to an MMO like GW2.

I believe many people would like to join this game but language barrier becomes a bottleneck.
It’s a good idea to provide Chinese UI to HK/TW players.
It makes more income but without increasing too much server loading due to the Time Zone difference from China region.
Please do so, especially we know Anet you are already working on a Chinese version for China.
Looking forward to have positive response from official.
