Choose starting clothing
Make a medium armor class female… can’t find a set that shows much skin even if you want to. (sorry for unconstructive comment)
Nah, I think the options should both be available for whoever prefers them. I just don’t want to have to dress my spellcaster as a cheerleader. If you like showing skin, by all means. I would just rather not, personally.
Ahh yes, how often have I participated in this particular argument before release
I agree that it’s beyond studpid that you have trouble covering up your female character if you choose a scholar profession, and trouble showing off skin when you choose an adventurer profession. Most of us choose professions based on our playing preferences, not based on how much skin we like our avatars to show in a game – a little more in-profession variety (especially in the beginning, I know there is towards the end) would be really nice.
I hate the starter armor for human, sylvari and norn female casters with an undying passion >_>
Edit: Quickly take up tailoring so you can at least wear pants works quite nicely with the velvet coat you can get as part of your early personal story.
For me then I think the ideal option would be to allow players to choose from a small selection of starting outfits, but I would personally be fine with just opening up each of the current starting selections to both sexes—so women in coats and women in skirts are available to those who want them.
Another fairly simple option would be to let you choose between the 3 sets you can get (through your personal story) at the beginning of the game. Still no coats there, but at least you don’t have to show off your panties all the time…

I agree really, I was just saying. I did appologize for my unconstructive comment.
I think there should be medium armors that show some skin (just want to show the bioglow on my sylvari’s back. And ofc. there should be light armors that cover you up.
I am not sure that the solution is to let females wear male armor. But they really really should add more variety for each armor class. Some more medium armor that isn’t a longcoat and tights. (like enough of those already). Some more light armor that isn’t cheerleader uniforms as you say.
Well, as far as starting armor goes, my issue is that I love the coat and would like to see it on the women; more variety would make me happy in general so that we could choose, and I would be happy if one of those options was ‘coats for everybody!’
While I agree with the sentiment, frankly it doesn’t seem like much of an issue, given that the first leg of a character’s story missions rewards a set of complete (for that level range) armor. It’s pretty easy (and quick) to run through that arc of the story and get the approximate appearance you’re looking for and complete a couple of the racial town maps for transmutation stones.
I will never wear the frumpy starter dress, so I always wear armor. Give us pretty clothes!

In all honesty you are only in that cheerleader outfit for a couple of levels only. You grow out of it fast, as someone stated, make a medium armor gal, It does a great job at covering up if it bothers you. Weird I saw a few level 80 female characters in Cursed Shore. With the starter oufits on, they said it is just the skin of the starter outfit. So I dunno I guess some people prefer that outfit for a caster….Shrug….
