I had a thought after donating money to Hobo-Tron. It’s going to a relief fund, but are we going to see in game stuff come out of it? I know games need arbitrary money sinks, but what if we made it feel less arbitrary by adding something in game based on how much we donate as a whole?
Example: An orphanage burns down in Kessex. ArenaNet does a two week update that involves players donating their money to help rebuild the orphanage. normally in an MMO, this would be added to cover up the fact they are just trying to take money out of the economy, but with my idea the players would get two fold content out of it.
It would be set up like a Kickstarter. We would see the different monetary goals at the beginning of the two week event. If all the servers collectively donated 500k we would get a few heart quests after the orphanage was built. If we donated 1 million we would get a weapon skin mailed to us. 2 million would net us a mini dungeon. 3 million would get us a new meta event etc. I am just throwing ideas out here at random, I am sure ArenaNet could come up with something way cooler.
I only have one prerequisite though: Hobo-Tron has to be a part of it. And we get to have a laugh at The Minstrel’s expense.
What do you guys think?

I think the idea has some merit. can’t think of specifics right now, but i would like to see something come out of all the gold donated
