Hey nice idea, might work, 900 gems perhaps.

900 gems is too cheap. 1600-2000 seems a reasonable amount. You are changing far more than only your name(800 gems), I mean the change seems a lot bigger.

EDIT: Still not a fan of it and would rather see them ignore this proposal. If you want a class switch, just reroll.

It must happen! ArenaNet and the players will benefit from that.

Anet has said before (from what I recall) that Race changes are not something that will be implemented because of the affect your race has on your personal story. It is something that I’d like to see in an ideal world but honestly looks a bit impractical.

Class change I’d also like to see as its always nice to have the option to change class without having to re-roll and doing all the levelling again but it seems like it might be open to abuse unless its very expensive which in itself will put people off.

Thing is, if we can change both race & profession then thats changing every detail about are character which just seems ridiculous.

I’d happily change my Mesmer into any other class, all it does it take up space and I’d rather just pay upfront then have to level all the crafting profs again to get a class I’d like to use.

Everyone will start rolling warriors to get to 80, swap to a different class, and then complain the new class sucks and want buffs/nerfs for other classes/refund. Also, some people will complain they can’t use their soulbound items as they’re now the wrong profession to use it.

Just kidding, but I bet some people will do this, haha.

Honestly, I don’t want class changes.

Firstly, you cannot learn a class without playing. And you’re not going to put a 7-year-old into a university course on topology if you want him to learn math, you put him in first grade. So why would you do that for a class?

Secondly, it would result in people playing the “flavor of the month” game. Which is not what ANet wants. You’re not supposed to play a class just because it’s strong, but because you like playing it. And let’s get it right out the way: If you like playing a class because it’s strong, you’re doing it all wrong.

Thirdly, it would result in people playing only the most wanted professions in PvE. Which would pretty much kill class diversity.

And just like a Race Change will have issues with personal story, a Class Change is going to have issues with soulbinding and skillpoints. Refunding the skillpoints isn’t going to solve anything (as it could still be abused with Miyani) and neither will saying that soulbinding is something the user did to themselves.

So we can have more people who are clueless about their class, and pick flavour of the month?
