Using staff is for sure since itts the tipical weapon and companion to a Wise man
The rest is : Scepter and Focus.
And rifle. Since the LM is not that trained in combat i think thats is all he should use, for now. But this will be more then he needs you will se why :
The special of the LM is to equip a relic he is posessing from ancient times. There are 3 of them (currently) and he can equip any of them pressing the buttons ( above the skillbar, used in the same way like Elementalist Attunements).
This will switch the weapon skill bar to 5 new skills, but not 5 new skill to each weapon. Only 5 skills per relic. Since they are the weapons the LM will use.
These are more of examples i leave the design and lore to Devs.
Stone summit Ritual axe : This is a short axe in size, but needs 2 hands to be hold.
1, The LM channels the Nekromantic powers of Gordac the fleashreaver and summons a phantom Axe to cut the enemy (on time and dissapear after it) in stomach. (cousing bleed and dmg)
The phantom exe appears in different areas of the enemy cutting it in different places
2, THe LM throws the exe, that will spin wickedly and shed blood in its path ( piercing foes) then it returns with the blood to heal it wielder. (moderate coldown)
3,The LM swings the axe causing fear in a cone shape in front of him (for a short time, with a long coodown)
Bone mask and bracers of Palawa Joko : Since its not really a weapon, the Lm will actually use his bare hands to cast spells. This is a skillset for pure offensive caster setup.
1, Spear of dread : Summons an inscribed spear that the Lm will throw.
2,Gaze of the Dead : The eyes of the mask glow ruby red and freeze the enemy in front of the LM (dealing minor dmg)
3, Undeath : THe bracers turn the LM to stone for a second and making him invulnerable for that second, after that the Lm slowly regains speed (making him freezed and then crippled, ower 10-15 seconds) but also making him more resistant to dmg till this time.
4, Skeletal command : the Mask speaks the secret words only known to Palawa Joko and summon a skeletal mage or warrior to fight for a short time by your side.
Jade Emperors celeastial kirin : Trough its a jade statue of a serpent like dragon, it is alive in some sort of way, and it tangles araund the neck and body of the LM.
1, Breath of Jade : The Kirin breathes lightly poisoned jade cloud (it poisons for a short time and deals dmg) in a cone in front of the Lm.
2, Balance : Radiates the inner harmony of heaves healing allyes constantly.
3, Scales of Dragon : THe Kirin turns the Lm’s skin to hardened scales that offer more armor and provide movement speed and increaced dmg to Breathe of Jade
4, Might of Kirin : The Kirin unleashes a mighty roar, knocking and dazing enemyes in the area (dealing minor dmg)
5, Wing Mau’s Bite : THe kirin leashes forth and bites the target knocking it down and dealing Big dmg (also poisoning the target)
(its more of a support skill) I might switch of a skill to Tail lash : that can keep up some constant dmg and offer healing. Or soemthing like this.
For utility i have many ideas.
Summon tome of Dumand : The Lm places an pedestal with a big book on it that can unleash powerfull spells at a long range ( like mortal) . Anyone ally can use it.
Runes of Dagnar : 3 floating rune encarved stone appear behind the Lm and grant him boons on each use after the summon for 3 times. Another use of the skill explodes one of the stones (and deals minor dmg)
Oltar of Skelet (or ) The LM summons a stone fountain with a monolity in its center, that radiates dark power which poisons and deals damage to enemyes for soem time ( something like nekros wells)
Record : On activation the LM starts recording his skill usage. And after the time passes (10-20 sec) he goes to invisibility and summons a clone of himself with less dmg but same healt that will use the same skills as he did. ( only weapon skills) Even dodge and move araund a bit.
Insight : the Lm can se from the lessons of the past and can prevent the next enemy skill from happening. THe next enemy skill after activation is casted, but has no effect (heal dmg condition or boon wont apply)
Elite : Spirit of the ancients – The Lm becomes an powrfull armored warrior of the past
Endless power : The Lm draws uppon the forbidden knowledge of ancient times. His eyes cracle with lightning and gains all boons for (moderate time) 10-30 sec. Becomes immune to all conditions and deals 20% more dmg.
