One set of armor may have several different names, depending on where you look. The PvP locker is especially bad for this. It’s a lot like there was a barrel of names with armors, and no one bothered to look to see if the names were consistent.
For example, in the PvP locker there are two medium armor sets that are called just “leather.” There are two heavy armor sets called “pit fighter’s.” These are very different sets for each case, and of course neither set is available in PvE with those names. And those are just two examples off the top of my head (there are many many more where the PvP locker names don’t match the PvE sets).
But this isn’t just a problem with the PvP locker — in PvE there’s a low level Duelist set of medium armor from karma vendors in places like Kessex Hills. There’s also high level exotic Duelist armor that’s a level 70-75+ drop (I’ve only seen “Berserker Duelist” for this latter set, but that’s not necessarily guaranteed). These sets are vastly different, why do they have the same names?
My suggestion is to look at each armor set. Choose a name for it. Make it the same name throughout the entire game, whether that’s PvE or PvP. Don’t have multiple sets with the same names and different appearance.
In the end, when I refer to a particular armor set, I don’t also want to have to include a screen shot to make sure we’re all talking about the same thing. I wouldn’t care if you had to make up new names for some of the multiple sets. Call it “Bongo the One-Eyed Sword Master” armor — just as long as it’s consistent and unique per set.
