Can Anet clear the Trading posts orders once a month or something?
I have noticed as I try to “Play” the trading post, that there are a great many purchase orders still left in the system that are below the minimum amount required for a given item.
Removing the out of date orders would make playing, and using the trading post a lot easier, as it would give an accurate depiction of what items are truly being looked for by other players.
I can recall may times after running a dungeon, when I would try to sell my loot to players before selling it to a vendor, when I would go to check the TP only to find that half the items that SAY they could be sold on the TP are really just the TP at temping to fill an order for an item that someone put in an order for 6 months ago for 28s when the minimum price of the item is 45s
This would also ensure that orders that are being filled are not being filled to people who perhaps stopped playing the game months ago, but left with huge orders in the system (Say all those people who were banned for Exploiting different things in the game?)
This could just be incorporated into regular regular Trading Post Maintenance. I dunno.. Just an Idea
I think the same needs to apply to items listed as well. A one-month expiry limit before the seller has to relist their items. At the moment, there are items on there that no human being has any hope of actually purchasing because the asking price is so ludicrously high.
People placing orders below the vendor price should be stopped from doing so. The number of orders priced at 1c which no seller can even fulfill (though why would they want to?) are high at the moment and a waste of time.
so true, they should even improve the trading systems so it shows the 15% fee properly and not only the 10% fee which everyone forgets
a monthly TP purge i would support. i don’t sell much anyways, but all of those outstanding orders for items have to go.
Agreed.
I tried to dig up an old post from October where someone mentioned the problem of buy orders listed below the minimum sell value, preventing sale on a number of items. In it, an ANet rep confirmed that while they had “fixed a bug” allowing such buy orders to be placed, they had not yet removed all invalid buy orders from the TP.
That was October, and they still haven’t gotten around to it. At this point it seems like the most straightforward solution is a 30-day expiry date on TP orders, buy or sell. Obviously ANet doesn’t have either the manpower, inclination, or both to keep the TP maintained manually.
The only reason I did not also include listed items as well is because of the listing fee.
It is true that some items are listed on the TP for exorbitant amounts of money. Eternity is right now listed for 5000g, the listing fee for that alone is like 250g, and While I think the asking price is crazy high, they own it, and they are free to try to sell it at what ever amount they feels is “Right”

True, but a non-refundable listing fee on listing dates with an expiration date generally turns out to be a good thing. It motivates players to set reasonable sell orders to ensure that they don’t permanently lose out on the listing fee. Of course, in many MMOs which utilize such a system, the listing fees are lower than 5%, and are properly displayed in projected transaction data…
Another option would be a scaling listing fee based on sell order duration, allowing players to keep items on the TP for longer. Naturally, since buy orders are not effected by current fees, there should be a hard cap on buy order duration.
I agree with OP, clear out the 1c orders and also put 150% of vendor cost as lowest to sell for, if people want to sell for less than that then they should sell to vendor instead of rock bottoming the market value on everything.
Any Chance we will see a Cleaning of the TP?
