This is a suggestion for the forums (as opposed to the game):

How about a sub-forum for people who want to engage other people heading into interesting zones or dungeons?

I find some areas particularly difficult to solo, and I would love it if I had a comrade. While such a sub-forum would contain many short-lived threads, it could provide a useful service until ANet finds a way to do it in-game.

Like? Don’t like?

If like, what are some things that need to exist for this idea to prove useful?

Guesting would be nice, in order to actually help people no matter what server they may be on.

Personally though, don’t see why we need another subforum for this, Player’s helping Player’s seems like a decent enough place to continue to ask for help.

Also sometimes if I need help doing a my story bit or a local item; i’ll ask on map chat. Many times there are offers to help. Sometimes, depending on zone and who’s present, you run into a pack of trolls; however, I’ve actually gotten a great deal of help.

just last night i was in the hinterlands doing the centaur camp events. After a successful turn of one, someone was asking for help on their story. I went and got my level 80 to go help that person. and he didn’t have to leave the game at all.

Unfortunately, asking in map chat only works if there are people in the zone. Unless one is in a city or dungeon zone, or Cursed Shore, map chat is useless, as there are essentially no people there.

gw2lfg.com has a field called ‘other’. You can ask someone to help with your story mission, and if no overflows are active or if overflows dont work to group up for story missions, specify what server/world you are on.

the gw2 games community must have like.. at least 10 sites out there. It’d be nice if community building was a little more in one spot. not everyone wants to make a new account at a whole slew of websites.
