Combat slowdown?
Stay frosty! Keep it tight!
I believe it’s for balance reasons in pvp situations. It is annoying, but that’s why I love my ranger; An extra speed increase. (:
That’s why I love my Ranger, my Thief, my Ele, and my Necro (while outside combat -.-)
And why playing my Guardian/Warrior/Engie/Mesmer is so frustrating, made worse when I switch from a character that has that passive 25%.
Now, I know some classes have swiftness buffs. Take the guardian, I can equip a staff for it’s #3 for 8s Swift, and I can equip Retreat for it’s 20s of Swift (which do not stack btw). That means sacrificing my secondary weapon and a utility slot to get what those other four get with one utility slot. And since for them their boosts come from signets (seriously why didn’t the War/Guard get a signet with a boost like that??) they aren’t even sacrificing a utility slot.
Frustrating.
The Mesmer? Only thing I can find so far on mine is the signet that gives random boons, which means you randomly get a few seconds of swiftness here and there.
Frustrating.
Engie? Only thing I can find there is the Power Shoes (is that the right name) in the traits that gives you 25% speed boost…..while in combat?? -.-
I don’t even….
Warrior? The only things I can remember seeing are a trait for +10% while wielding a melee weapon (could be good since they’re melee heavy, but it’s only 10% so..), the Warhorn’s Charge gives Swiftness for 10s, and the elite Signet of Rage gives it for 30s but has a 60s CD since it’s elite. If it simply had a passive 25% instead that would have been fine and I wouldn’t have to waste a secondary weapon on the Warhorn and trait points for the 10% (or if that 10% was 25% I’d take that)
I keep hearing that this combat speed thing is for fairness in PvP.
But that makes no sense whatsoever. I equipped my signet at the expense of, say, a minion/elemental, which means that speed boost cost me. And now you’re going to take it away out of some insane notion of “fairness”??
How is that fair? I’m less powerful in order have it, I traded power for speed. And yet at any point when it’s most important, you take it away….
What would have been “fair” would be giving each class the option to equip that 25% boost (preferably through a signet, so you aren’t forced into a trait line, and thus a limited build set, to get it), that way it’s entirely by player choice whether or not to have it, and there’s then no reason to take it away from players who have it (Not that there are any legitimate reasons now mind you).
I love my Guardian, but she’s <painful> to play with how slowly she moves.
There is absolutely no evidence to support that it would.” -AnthonyOrdon
