Commander UI
I do agree with the point’s, but WvW doesn’t have the environmental effects to really give any depth of tactics ie. no flanking damage if I shoot you in the back you take the same damage as in the front, No terrain buffs like if standing behind or on a wall there’s no toughness buff, tho there should be as you are “entrenched” as it were. WvW as it is without these terrain modifications can’t really be brought to with tactics as there is no difference is you attack from the front or flank.
Hold alt+right click your map. You’re welcome
A little menu with squad attack, defend, move, etc orders should show up. Make sure you’re clicking your map, not your minimap.

This is entirely false. If you meet heavy resistance on your enemy’s front, falling back and flanking meets little to no resistance and you may be able to push the enemy Zerg out. Learn WvW.

Yeah but isn’t this a little inconvenient? When you are fighting as a commander you may not have the time to open the map. I think it would be much easier to just press a button in order to retreat.

You mean this : “ALT+Mouse1 on the map opens a context menu for adding special order waypoints, to mark locations for attacks, defense, and rally points. These special waypoints are visible to squad members.” ?
Yep. Just make sure you use the squad function that commanders don’t use.
Sorry about that I wrote it and then when I saw your edit I edited myself and it got complicated.

No problem. Glad I could help! There’s a lot of little-known things like this in the game.
The whole command & squad system needs a lot of love. It’s basically nothing more than a zerg magnet. There is no way to use it effectively for medium or tactical use as random people always flock to it.
Guilds running multiple guild grps that use tactics almost never put the pins up, as they don’t want to lead the whole zone and have hordes of people following them. Until they allow “private” squads or some other multi-grouping system the commander is basically a shiny beacon for pugs to flock too.
