Hey all guild wars 2 players, and devs! I have some suggestions for the dear commander tag. I will now take them in numbers, feel free to say what you think!

1. Make commanders a waypoint for squad members. i know you think that it can be exploited, but not any worse than portal. just make a anti siege code for it, so no one in a golem can teleport to it!

2. Give commanders able to draw a long line on the map that not dissapear untill commander make it such.

3. Give commander a siege overcontrol functionality, like a golem that is used by a normal player a commander can force the other player out by using it self.

4. Make siege refreshing last longer when done by a commander, 5 hours or such.

5. Give commanders an option to dye their commander tag, such that it fits the theme of their characthers.

6. Put a guild shield behind the commander tag when guild members see one.

7. I hope you like my ideas, feel free to suggest, or say what you think!

1. Is not practical as many people have commander tags can could just set up stationary way points in remote places. It will encourage wreckless and less strategic zerging if you can simply wipe and respawn, in contrast to the current mentality where say you only have one shot at Garrison or you have to walk back from home border, by which time Garri will be lost.

2. This is a very good suggestion. You can already do this with parties by holding shift and clicking but it fades away too quickly. ANet should consider this. A lasting time that does not fade, can mark routes or attack plans etc.

3. Again, a lot more people than you think have commander tags and not all of these people are responsible. They will throw up tags just to steal ACs and get lootbags.

4. We have tower watches for that anyway.

5. Good suggestion. Other than the comestic function it can also be used to mark the separate Ranged/Melee zergmeta that is developing.

6. Again cosmetic so I’m indifferent.

Some good suggestions, just my 2 cents.

1. well i ment the commander it self is a waypoint, perhaps give it somthing like a recharge, or 5 points into a line for the exp. well this could be fixed if only tought on a bit.

3. Well there only is a few commanders, the point is like when a guy take the siege golem from a commander, that is just wrong…

Commander waypoint will be Awefull,and Heavily abused.Remember there are multiple people on the map who own a commander tag.Now if a siege is happening somewhere and the current commander get killed somehow along with his most people,there is still one guy left ho has a commander tag,wich he only puts up so everyone can port back to him.Remember also one guy with a commander tag hiding inside a tower,tags up for a sec so the entire zerg can port over to him…You see what’s wrong with this yet ?

Also i dont think commanders should get any priviliges over sieges,some can tag up just to steal a golem for instance.And making sieges last for 5h will also work out for the worst ( siege limit…)|

I do think comms should be able to change their comm tag colour in order to show the map if they comm for the server or for the guild.

1. I always thought this would be a good idea. Has to be made exploit-safe of course, but I really wish the commander could summon people to places (maybe a CD skill?) or people could teleport to him. When out of combat only of course. Maybe a 1 minute delay after being out of combat or something like that to make sure it won’t be exploited.

2. If you give me the option to only see 1 commanders drawing or to turn it completely off. As soon as you have more than 1 commander the map might get SUPER messy with this otherwise.

3. Hell. No. I already hate people telling other people to get off siege. Commanders are players like everyone else. Anyone can get a commander icon. That does not give anyone the right to demand control over siege. Siege is often used to get a lot of tags and badges, believe it or not and it’s already bad enough with people trying to get you off a siege weapon because they want on it.

4. Don’t have an opinion on this one.

5. Hell. No. Commander tags are blue. If they all had different colors it would get messy, confusing etc.

6. I don’t quite understand what you mean? Like have the [GUILD] tag behind the commander icon on the map and mini map? I’d like that. Would help to tell quickly, which commander is where when checking the map.

Well, realy annoying when like a commander has built a omega siege golem then a random noob go in it, and just taking sucide with it….

No a sort of a shield ish icon behind the blue crown, that only guild members see.

We were saying how guild members should be Yellow on the map rather than green. It would be logical if you did this to make Guild Commanders also Yellow or Orange to match.

All the other stuff is fairly bad ideas. TPing to Commanders is SO abusable. Kicking people off Siege that they have paid for themselves. etc.

Only one that has merit is drawing on map and then I would only have it available to members of the Commander’s Squad, and maybe be some icons and arrows they can add to the world map.

Hello, I believe it is a good idea to create another kind of commander, commander guild, the pin that commander can only be seen by guild members. That would help a lot to improve the frequency and enjoyment of the guilds in WXW, because many do not feel prepared to command an entire server, but your guild is. We see dozens of pin commander active in LA or PVE, but WXW are all inactive. Sell one for 50 gold would be perfect.

Portal has a limited range (5,000 units?), a limited capacity, a short window of opportunity and a long cooldown. It also requires a mesmer to cross the distance on foot to set up the portal and thus renders them vulnerable to attack.

Your commander suggestion has none of things (And that is without discussing the already well covered logistical and abuse issues)

These two in Tandem could be interesting.. Let the lines appear in the same color as the tag the commander is using, so that people following “Commander Blue” know that the blue marks and lines are his.. and and people following “Commander Yellow” know the yellow lines belong to her (But limit it to say 3 or four colors per map)

Why?

My own idea, Make commanders appear BIGGER to players on their own side, or somehow make them easier to spot/target in a mass of people. Especially if they are Asura….
