Complains from a GW1 player regarding GW2
Sounds like you just need to go play GW1.
This is not a suggestion but rather a complaint. Can a mod please move/lock this?
Sorry to hear you don’t like the sequel but personally I find this much better than GW1. Why? Because I can interact with people outside of towns and outposts while still having the private loot for myself. Traveling is easier in GW2 thanks to the multiple WPs and once more portions of the map are released we’ll quickly have more sights than we need. The lack of stupid/generic quest chains wasting my time so I can spend more of it exploring like I did in GW1.
Truly the only thing I miss from GW1 is my monk. I have great faith the other things I miss are being worked on for implementation.

A complaint implies a suggestion in reverse so for those who know, it is a suggestion but its rather showing what is lacking then filling in the holes with the generic “It should have X”
There are a couple things I’m going to comment on, but first and foremost: Guild Wars 2 is meant to be an entirely different game from GW1.
1. This is just silly. You’re frustrated that you can’t max your character within 10 hours? You must not like a challenge.
8. If you feel like it’s a solo game, then that is your responsibility. This game isn’t Nightfall – and heroes were not necessarily standard in GW1 either. You can join a guild, a party, etc. to play with others. Or, you can just wait for someone else to enter that area and play with them without joining a party. It’s not that hard to play with other people.
13. I actually prefer not having skill capturing anymore. I think that more skills are needed in the game, but I like the skill challenges.
15. If you spam your skills, then that’s your fault. I have put a lot of thought into my build, and I don’t need to just spam my skills. It’s called strategy, and if you choose to not play this way, that’s your fault.
18. Players can show their titles if they go to the hero panel.
23. At the moment, I believe server transfers are free. What restrictions are you talking about?
26. I use the bank/storage quite a lot, so I have absolutely no idea what you think is pointless about it.
28. There are no secondary professions in this game for a secondary profession change to occur.
31. I feel like GW1 was more repetitive. It was just green arrow after green arrow. At least in this game, we have vistas, WP, POI, etc.
33. I play with another person with my storyline. I have no issues with it.
Gotta agree they completely nerfed trade.
I used to be a power trader in GW1. Now peeps dont even have to browse trhough item shop, the game will automatically show em the cheapest item :/
As for zone shape, they feel way too symetrical. They could have bit less regular shapes.

If you complain in such a way that it becomes a suggestion. This person is just listing off GW1 features while adding how GW2 is a different game. I see no suggestions here unless the motive is QQ enough and maybe something on the 50pt list will be added.

“1. This is just silly. You’re frustrated that you can’t max your character within 10 hours? You must not like a challenge.”
I won’t agree or disagree with you (I think when you get 1 guy to 80 the others should get an exp boost, but that’s me), but please stop equating “wasting 15 hours of your life running around in a circle” with a challenge.
“15. If you spam your skills, then that’s your fault. I have put a lot of thought into my build, and I don’t need to just spam my skills. It’s called strategy, and if you choose to not play this way, that’s your fault.”
Depends on the class you play. The ele is very spammy, for instance, while the mesmer has at least some modicum of thought. (very little, but it’s more then nothing!)
@ Gad Defence,
Seems the quote button is still buggy for me. Anyway, If you’re playing the class in a spammy way, you might want to reconsider. If you haven’t gotten to a higher level or did WvW yet, just spamming isn’t going to get your anywhere. I don’t spam my skills, because if I did in the places I currently enjoy playing I’d be dead.
GW2 isn’t GW1, it wasn’t advertised as GW1 and it shouldn’t be GW1. I understand that some people want certain GW1 features back, Me included. I would like costumes to function like costumes, and I’d like to be able to save a costume to the costume maker so I can get one for free on my alts. I’d like a few minor things. But I would never pass off a list of EVERYTHING about GW1 as a list of suggestions.
I hate to say it, but it looks like OP wants to play GW1 not GW2 which is fine, but GW2 is not GW1 and was never intended to be.
“The crafting / gathering system that has no meaning other than getting experience and money”
Sorry but I laughed at that one. Yeah I hate money and experience too.
Seriously though, there are a lot of people they keep essentially saying, ‘GW2 isn’t GW1! Hmpf!‘, if you prefer almost everything in GW1, then play it instead! Personally, I think GW2 is leagues better than GW1, yeah it doesn’t work in the same way but if it did, people would put up a 34 point list about how it’s a reskin of the original and didn’t bring anything new to the table.
We don’t NEED heroes in GW2 because the content isn’t designed entirely for parties and if anything, I found heroes made the game feel more single player, as opposed to what you said, due to the fact they were more reliable than players and I could replace Dbags with them. I think people have already been spoiled by GW2’s features and are already complaining about them. You dislike the repetative nature of POI’s, hearts, vistas, skillpoints and waypoints? As opposed to, quests, quests, quests, quests and quests?
I’m not going to run through every point, even though I pretty much either disagree or have a few things to say about each as I’m pretty sure I’d be lucky you read this far. Anyways, I’m not making fun of you or anything, I’m just essentially saying, ‘Lighten up dude! If you like GW1, go play it.’

Sorry, this isn’t Guild Wars 1. Better get used to that.
“Guild Wars 2 is a totally different game”
That’s why there is a big number 2 behind the title.
1. The high level 80 which is not obtainable in 10h.
you can get it in a week of casual playing.
9. The guild system which allows everyone to be leaders or join multiple guilds
its fine but could have higher member limit.
17. The crafting / gathering system that has no meaning other than getting experience and money
the meaning is to craft armor most of the time its cheaper just to buy it anyway.
31. The repetitive feel of the zones: hearts, waypoints, points of Interest, Vistas, Jumping puzzles
agree its kind of like legendary vanquisher all over again just more simple on skills and no heroes to keep you in company. as well as way easier content.
and that’s all there is to do after you hit max level except for random events and dungeons in pve.
i like the feature but i wouldn’t mind having more content.
i have one more thing to add armors sets look to similar. just look on noble and ascalonian almost the same. there is no armor which really stands out and is different like monk obsidian armor.
I hate to say it.
GW1 > GW2
There are some aspects of GW2 that are better. But overall GW1 was a better game.
Also, if you pay close attention to GW1 maps, THE ZONES ARE SQUARES TOO! :O
So I’m not entirely sure why that’s a problem.

Nobody is forcing you to play this game if you’re so unhappy with it. GW1 is still around you know.
I own all of GW1, and I have tried multiple times to give it a fair shake. I even tried to get back into the game to do HoM before GW2 came out, but… I couldn’t. I don’t enjoy its setup, its mechanics, or anything about it other than its classes and lore. To me, it was all very clunky and boring. However, I love GW2!
But, in the end, it doesn’t matter which game you like. Play the one that you enjoy. If you enjoy GW1, play that. I’m not going to ask to make GW1 more like 2 (I know it’s not possible, let’s use our imaginations), and we shouldn’t be asking to make 2 more like 1. Certain optional features? Sure, suggest them. But don’t make the switch expecting the exact same game. It’s silly to do so.
Bucket lists are not a very good way to give feedback. It’ll be better to focus on each issue separately.
Most of your points have already threads started you can quickly find using the search. And those that don’t, are well… pointless. Not because they don’t have a thread already, but because they were just quickly made out of a non-issue to inflate the list, like “the invisible titles”. Titles are not invisible, once selected, they appear when you select a player, along the full name of their guild, their profession icon and their level.

Thanks for calling me bad, I have multiple 80s and usually bring back top place in my sPvP matches.
Ele is spammy, especially scepter and staff (dagger needs more control). You’re constantly swapping attunments and using your skill on the enemy – letting up is usually a negative for the ele since your AoEs usually recharge in 5-6 seconds.
Warrior is spammy. If you aren’t constantly switching weapons and mashing on the enemy, you’re probably not playing it full well. Low cool down skills make you offensive, other then the rare usage of a 90~ second elite or utility.
Mesmer is somewhat spammy. If you aren’t constantly summoning and sacking your clones, there’s a chance you’re doing it wrong (there’s also a chance you’re lulling your enemy in). Granted you have more prep type skills and emergy type skills then the other two classess I mentioned.
That doesn’t mean there isn’t strategic play at work. It just means some classess need to constantly use skills.
As to PvE. . . Most of those fights are determined ahead of time. Either your setup works or fails. Normal mobs? Hammer. Unstunnable elite? Strafe with bow. Dungeon boss? Team work or fail, usually. I can usually whipe out most of a a 5 to 10 mob pull in orr with my bow/axe combo.

Everything you described isn’t “spamming” You’re tactically switching weapons/attunements/skills to play.

You are effectively putting words in my mouth. I never said that I have a problem with people who level quickly. However, I think it’s a really silly complaint. I’ve never heard someone complain that they couldn’t reach a max level in only 10 hours. To me, that’s just ridiculous and tells me that this is just a power-level player. That’s not a problem, but that’s not how this game was designed.
