Cost of Infusing Backslots... too intensive?
tbh – I’m feeling that too much of the game content atm relies on how good are we at money making and/or how lucky we are at gambling for my standards. Playing since headstart – while saving (nearly) every penny I have 150g. Upgrading my back to get 30AR is therefore spending half of my ‘fortune’. Meaning over 3 months of playing. Kinda a lot considering it’s like socketing a gem in it (in comparission I just checked that buying myself a second full exotic set including armor/rings/trinkets/etc would be less than 20g). Yeah – I’d love to see an alternative way to get your 10AR back than current one. Something like a different ascencion gift that can be bought from the merchant only if u’ve entered fractals 40 diff.
Wow, 150g. I have yet to break 30g, and I don’t spend much either.
There’s definitely too many heavy gold sinks where they aren’t supposed to so serious. They said over and over again that it was only going to be cosmetic things (like the glow on the capacitor), that would be exorbitantly expensive and require lots of grind. And that would be fine, if that’s the way it worked out. But, as I’m sure you’ve noticed, that’s not.
I have four level 80s, none of whom wear exotic, and only two of whom even where rares (that I crafted myself using mats I “mostly” farmed myself), I run everywhere, hardly ever use waypoints, I’m extremely careful about dying, copper pinching on and on. And have yet to break 30g.
I’m in the process of gathering the mats to craft a set of exotics for one of them, and it’s nuts. At 5 ecto per Insignia thats 30 for a set, and at the 29.93 it’s at right now that comes to 8g97s, just for the ecto.
The Gossamer, of which I need 30 bolts (60 scraps @ 3s65c) is another 2g19s.
The Gossamer Thread, 20 for each Insignia, 120 @ 6s40c per 10, is another 76s.
Totaling 11g92s for the set, not counting the fourth mat.
(also note, this is just the 6 armor pieces, I haven’t even started thinking about her trinkets yet -.-)
Having to also use 6 Fine ‘mute stones and grind a dungeon to get the skin I want falls under “costmetic”, so I don’t have a problem with that.
But just under 12 gold just to get stats?? And just armor stats at that?
That’s not how it’s supposed to work.
The ascended stuff? pfffft, never gonna happen
There is absolutely no evidence to support that it would.” -AnthonyOrdon
I agree 100% with the OP. I’m fine for the insane ecto cost for the cosmetic beta version. That’s just cosmetic. I’m even fine with the high amount of mats required for the books and quivers, since their point is to be a faster but more expensive alternative to actually grinding for the dungeon tokens.
However, requiring that many ectos for the “dungeon grind” version just is pretty extreme. It would be pretty extreme in a game that hadn’t advertised, “You won’t have to grind for stats.” I’ve been playing pretty much daily since launch using only Black Lion kits for rares, and I haven’t found a total of 250 ectos over that entire period of time.
I agree that we should be able to buy a “Gift of Infusion” with dungeon tokens in place of the ectos in order to infuse the capacitor. Make it cost another 1000, for all I care. It’ll still be more obtainable for a lot of people who prefer actually running the dungeons to playing the TP.
the funny thing is it’s not even that of a ‘must have’ tbh. Without any bigger issues I got to 40 diff fractals with ‘only’ 25AR and then at lvl 40 I got informed that it doesn’t matter anymore if I have 25 or 30 of it – I’m gonna end up dead at Maw anyway and we’re gonna change our aproach to complete it from now on.
