Crafting Specialization

In my opinion, crafting isn’t as valuable of a resource as it should be. I think allowing every character access to every craft, coupled with no competition for resource nodes, has lead to the market being inundated with so many finished goods that most people sell for a loss simply to clear their inventory so they can continue to power-level their crafting skills.

So I propose the following change: Crafting Specialization. What is it? It would be a system in which a player can select two crafting disciplines in which to specialize.

Benefits of Specialization:
– Can gain experience levels beyond 400 (if/when the cap is raised)
– Chance of some of the materials used to craft items being refunded
– Greater success when salvaging items matching your Specialization
(salvaging upgrades, more materials or materials of the next tier, and rare materials)

Downside of Specialization:
– You can only Specialize in two crafting disciplines
– You lose all progress gained in any crafting disciplines in which you are not specialized

Now since players have already invested a great deal of time, gold, and materials maxing out all crafting disciplines on a single character, the "cannot progress beyond 400) limitation might have to be waived to avoid forcing players to choose between hitting a ceiling and throwing away their invested time and money.

This system would hopefully entice players to specialize, which in turn would hopefully cut back on some of the glut the market’s seen since launch. As supply shrinks, prices would rise. In theory, anyway. So, what do you guys think?
